  1. A coworker suggested I look into this at WGU. If the no part-time outside work is no longer in effect, I will definitely consider.
  2. I would not have been as successful in nursing school if it wasn't for the recorded lectures. My school was very liberal with recordings and they also made podcasts of each lecture. I am a very strong auditory learner. I used to listen to the lectures whenever I was in the car and to this day, I can still hear some of the content in my head.
  3. I am a nurse ed. student at Kaplan University and I am trying to secure a preceptor for practicum. Is anyone familiar with the practicum requirements for Kaplan and what is supposed to happen during those 200 hours? I know this is a strange question, but Kaplan really isn't clear on it at this point. I know I have a major teaching project that I must complete, but that is all I know. As I have been searching for a preceptor, I had a discussion with one that said the students she has precepted for in the past for other schools require the preceptor to supervise and advise the student on the project and that was her only duty. I guess I am looking for clarification of what those 20 weeks are going to entail. I have been pleased with the education I have received from Kaplan up to this point, but this securing of a preceptor has got me in a fit! It is hard to explain to potential preceptors when you don't really know the program yourself. Any guidance would be appreciated!
  4. This is in no way a criticism of you, buy why would they have someone (I assume) with no nursing education experience develop an orientation plan? This makes my teeth itch!
  5. It's just another task that is piled up on the nurses, having to worry about agreements. ugh!
  6. You are feeling what I was feeling when I first started. You will notice that the anxiety will abate as you learn more. It sounds like you have plenty of support, so that is great. Hang in there and stick it out as long as you can. Do not even think about quitting after only a few months.
  7. I write appeals letters for a specialty pharmacy
  8. I don't understand how a CNA has access to narcotics. If that's the case then that facility has more problems than what you mentioned.
  9. This is soooooo true! I'm actually at a job where I'm making excellent money with no stress, but it is the most boring job I've ever had. It's actually painful getting through the day!
  10. I'd like to be a cruise critic. I'd be good at it, and I would get to write too!
  11. Somehow I missed this original post. Did the op stay at the office? I need to know, lol. I left bedside for a desk RN position. Even though the money is more at my new job, I get bored every day, and I feel useless. BUT I'd take public flogging over being at the bedside again, so I guess I'm ahead of the game.
  12. Did you flush it before restarting the infusion? I don't understand why you feel you can't face the parents. Maybe the IV needs to be changed to a different area.
  13. Oh, yeah. It's an unfortunate aspect of acute care now because of reimbursement. I've had difficulties in the past with difficult case managers wanting discharge in the morning, before I have even passes all my morning meds. This is one of the many reasons I quit bedside.
  14. I looked this one up in the dictionary. It does have both pronunciations. I would never judge somebody by this. I say often often :)
  15. Me too!!!!!!! Could of and should of are torturous to read
