How did everyone do spring semester? My grades are posted, I finished the semester with a 4.0:balloons:
Earlier I posted that I got a 3.7 for this semester. NO! I went to my algebra class last night and we were given our final grades. I earned a 'B' but the instructor gave me an 'A'. I was so shocked!!! My grade was an 86. Now, I missed the last week and a half of class. It is an accelerated algebra class. I had A's before I missed so much. The instructor knew that I missed the time because I had to go to California. My grandfather died. Even so, people all over the room were in awe that they got grades higher than they deserve. I got the idea that she inflated everyone's grade by one grade. The instructor then told us "I'm supposed to give you this evaluation to fill out before I give you your grades, but I wanted you all to see your grades before you fill out your evaluation of me." She is adjunct and I get the idea that she'd love to get hired on as full-time faculty. Anyway, I was just so shocked by this. She also gives all exams as take-home. Is there any integrity with this class? Or, alternatively, does this happen more often than I imagine, and it's up to the instructor? This is my first semster in college. I need to know from you all if this sort of thing happens and it's more acceptable than I think. I'm just shocked.
So anyway, I earned a 3.7 this semester but I have a 4.0.
Wow, that is shocking!! No offense, but I am stunned that a teacher would just hand out grades like that. I think the best teachers are the ones who hand out fair grades and is reasonable in doing it.
My literature professor adored me, but he would never inflate anyone grades including mines just because he wanted better reviews to gain tenure. I know it is not your fault, and I am not condemming you. But I think what your professor did was disgusting.
I also had a Sociology professor who is like your teacher. Instead of take home test, he gave us the questions and answers to the exam and chose about 65 to put on the exact one. I couldn't stand his class, and I didn't have to apply myself which made the class a joke. I will not miss him either.
I made an A in Microbiology lecture and lab. Oh my goodness, I wanted to jump off the walls when my teacher emailed me yesterday. I am soooooo overjoyed. That was a doozy of a class. I also made an A in wellness and am hoping to get an A in my political science, but my teacher is being slow about returning the grades. I hope everyone else had just as well of a semester. Good luck.
This is my 2nd semester of Pre-Req. After a 15 years of being away from school. I got a 4.0 both semesters but with my grades from 15 years ago I still only have a 2.94 overall GPA . I am so dissappointed. There is no way of getting those old grades taking off. I should not worry because my nursing program only looks at Pre-Req's GPA's. I still would like to see a higher GPA after 2 semesters of 4.0's.
Only one class to go besides my nursing classes and that is Microbiology. I am really worried about it.
God Bless,

Be proud of your recent accomplishments, and don't look back! :w00t:As long as your pre-req grades are good, you would be in fine shape for admittance to most schools.
I, too had bad grades from many years ago. Recently, after three semesters of 4.00 and one of 3.85, I still have only a 3.31 cum. GPA.
What really stinks is that they won't "disappear" those bad grades, but they sure will disappear any old credit toward a degree, even if you got an A+.
Oh well. I got into nursing school with no problems.
Keep your head up, keep up the good work, and start practicing your victory dance!

I dont think those grades will matter for you. I didnt do so hot 20 years ago either. I was afraid I would have to re-take Composition, because I made a C, but the nursing advisor told me not to worry about that right now, cause maybe my grades would be good enough through my pre-requisites I would be able to make it in with that.
