  1. I think I am interested in Public/community health nursing and OB/L&D
  2. I Got IN today at University at Buffalo Bachaelor of Science in Nursing Program!!! Class of 2009 !!!! I am so excited; it has lifted a huge burden off my shoulders. They sent me an email today, and I was SO HAPPY....
  3. I attend State University at New York of Buffalo and tuition is 2375 a semester, but with fees and on campus housing and all, it comes out to about 15,000 a year. I think that is fair enough.
  4. Actually it happened to me last year, but the class was Freshman Composition. I was the top writer in my class, yet I was the only one who bombed the final. My professor told me he was shocked and couldn't believe it. I think I panicked during the exam even when I didn't need to. I also put too much pressure on myself. All in all, even though I got a B in the class, it pushed me to do better next time.
  5. I think that is what separates the BSN and the ADN. I don't think it is all about clinicals. I think nursing is a PROFESSION with different aspects to it. Like medicine, it is more than learning about your patients, but it is also about learning about different aspects of the major program also. ADN's may know more about the clinical aspect after they graduates then BSN's, but BSN will eventually catch up because they have the education to be exposed to more aspects and understand the profession more. The BSN is not about the bigger paycheck, but it is about increasing the knowledge of students by learning in a wider scope. I have nothing against ADN nursing, but I think there is a reason why BSN is required to get a masters or any other graduate degree. If you don't want to have a broader scope of the nursing profession, the ADN may be right for you. I don't know what I will do if nursing was all about clinicals in the BSN program. I want more from college experience than being in a hospital or memorizing conditions as the only thing my college education was based on. Anyways, I am 19, but that is how I see the current situation. I was enrolled in an ADN program, but I think I would've made the wrong decision if I actually started the nursing clinical curriculum straight out of college. Doing the pre reqs have helped me strengthen skills before I start taking care of people. It has helped me learn that getting a degree is more about the education and foundation to help succeed in the BSN program I am currently enrolled in. The last thing I wanted to do is be confronted about a certain condition or aspect of the human body that I wasn't familiar with...Anyways...
  6. I attend Suny at Buffalo, and the RN/BSN is now designed specifically for a working nurse. You may want to check it out.
  7. Hi, I am just wondering, what were your statistics that helped you get into Grad school. I am just trying to inquire, so I can have a better idea where my GPA and GRE scores should be like in order to get into a competitive grad school. If you don't mind can you post the schools you got accepted schools. I specifically interested in people who got accepted to CNM, FNP and Women Health Programs.Info about experience would be great too.
  8. CLASSES for FALL 2006: Nursing Informatics, Nutrition, Social and Medical Ethics,Later Shakespeare, Biochemical Pharmacology. PROGRAM: University at Buffalo Intended BSN WHEN STARTED PRE-REQs: Fall 05 WHEN YOU PLAN TO APPLY for CLINICALS: March 07 PROJECTED GRADUATION: Spring 09 MOST NERVOUS about: whether or not nursing is really for me.If I have the ability to become a nurse.Having a social life. WANT TO BE A NURSE BECAUSE: Great job, flexible, well payed, challenging. YOUR INSPIRATION:Having a family, becoming a CNM, enjoying life and all its aspects. PREVIOUS JOBS/CAREER: HS
  9. Do nursing schools look at the entire package, or do they look only at prerequisites for nursing and determine the strongest for their program in that regards?I plan to focus on English at my new school before I apply for Nursing, and I also had a strong relationship with my professor from my previous school who said he would write me a recommendation if needed. So I was wondering if they even cared about that does only nursing curriculum matters.
  10. Wow, that is shocking!! No offense, but I am stunned that a teacher would just hand out grades like that. I think the best teachers are the ones who hand out fair grades and is reasonable in doing it. My literature professor adored me, but he would never inflate anyone grades including mines just because he wanted better reviews to gain tenure. I know it is not your fault, and I am not condemming you. But I think what your professor did was disgusting. I also had a Sociology professor who is like your teacher. Instead of take home test, he gave us the questions and answers to the exam and chose about 65 to put on the exact one. I couldn't stand his class, and I didn't have to apply myself which made the class a joke. I will not miss him either.
  11. Congrats to everyone one a great semester. I have 3.7 with a 17 credit hour course load. Not perfect but damn good.
  12. Good Job!!! My grades are very similar to yours and I have 3.7 also! Literature-A Anatomy and Physiology-A Sociology-B+ Human Development-A Statistics-B Nursing Seminar-A
  13. My freshman comp professor was awesome too. I have him again for Lit, and I totally enjoy his class. He is funny and has a lot of charisma which is great. My A&P I and II teacher is good too. The class is boring, but she has a great personality which makes it easier to stay awake.
  14. Hey, I need the opinion of people who are pre-nursing students wanting to be nursing students. At my current school,I am in a nursing program where I'll start in the fall. But I am not happy with the school. Therefore, I am transferring to another school. At the school I'm transferring to, I am not guarenteed a position in the BSN program, but it is a 4 yr school and it doesn't matter if I don't get accepted next year when I apply to the major because I am young (18). I also want more of a college experience rather than heading towards a profession. Do you think I am making the wrong decision by leaving a guarenteed nursing spot although my grades are very good and I have a chance at a BSN program? By going into the nursing program here at my current school, I feel as though I am restricting myself from other interest I may have. I don't know. I plan on transferring, but I don't know if I am making the correct decision.
