  1. Okay so I have a similar question...Recently I was arrested in Texas and charged with the offense of DWI. This is my first one in 18 years and my last one. I don't have a conviction or other decision on my case yet. I am working with a criminal attorney and an administrative lawyer to explain this to the board. However, with this situation, I am hesitant to applying to nursing staffing agencies and travel nursing agencies and hospitals. Any advice on how to apply for a job would be helpful. Thanks.
  2. Just be yourself. Gastroenterology nursing is a lot of information that a nurse should learn but if your doctors are the ones that like to teach, then pick there brain. Its more than just pushing Versed and Fentanyl. That is the somewhat easier part.
  3. Where do you work? I might be interested in applying!
  4. Where do you work in New Mexico?
  5. For me everything does not revolve around money. I want to do what I think I would e good at and then if the money follows then so be it....
  6. I have a question...I have been a BSN RN for about 6 years now with a lot of med/surg experience, tele, and step down experience. I am separating from the military soon and I want to go into the ER. Has anyone applied to Memorial Hermann ER internship for experienced nurses wanting to change specialities? i know there are more internships out there, but can anyone give me information on Memorial Hermann? Thanks....Maverickemt
  7. Hi...I don't know when I will leave the air force but I would like to start in the ER without previous ER experience. I am a RN for 5 years and have done regular med/surg, intermediate care with telemetry. I have been looking on the internet for formal ER internships and I have called the recruiters. They have told me to just apply for ED given my 5 years experience (since I have more than one year of med/surg experience)....I am partly scared to start without any formal training. I would love to start in the ED with an internship. Any suggestions?
  8. Dear ED/ER nurses, My name is Sachin. I am currently an Active Duty RN (BSN) working in San Antonio, Texas. I plan to separate within the next year. I would love to step inside an ER/ED after I separate. However, I have no formal ER/ED training. I welcome any suggestions for me to get into an ER/ED. Thank you. Sincerely, Sachin
  9. What places have you been looking at? Do you work in an ED now? If so, where? thanks

  11. Hello all, This is to anyone who wants to respond. I have an unique situation. I am currently an active duty military member and I plan to separate in 2014. I would like to work in the ED after separation. I have been deployed for 6 months, have 3 months civilian med/surg experience, and 4 years perioperative experience. I am certified in all the life support stuff and TNCC. I find myself getting nervous looking at openings for ED internships for experienced nurses who want to make a career change. Is this normal? Should I just apply for ED positions in Texas and see what happens or should I apply for an internship? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Maverickemt

Hello everyone, I have done a lot of medical/surgical nursing on the floors and PACU nursing for the 4 years I have been a nurse. I have my TNCC and I have also served my country in the air force. I have also been deployed. I want to know how hard is it to get into an ED without any previous ER experience? If there are any hospital nursing recruiters on this site, please feel free to chime in. Thanks, maverickemt
  13. I am a BSN RN for almost 5 years now. I have done a lot of med/surg, neuro, and ortho. I have all my life support and TNCC. I was told by a few people in the ENA that I need TNCC to talk the lingo in the ER. I am an ACLS instructor. I also have military deployment experience....Any advice on getting into an ER without any previous ED experience in Texas preferably? If there are any ED directors or recruiters on this site, please feel free to chime in. I have about two years left of a 4 year commitment in the military. Thanks for the advice. Maverick
  14. But is it a good idea to just apply even if I don't have any ED experience (hence new to ER)?
  15. A big question from an experienced RN who wants to get started in an ER..... I have two years left to complete in a 4 year military commitment and then I would like to separate. I would like to pursue ER nursing after separation. I am already an ACLS instructor and I have BCLS and PALS. I will have TNCC before I separate. I will also be a nurse for 5 years before I separate. What is the best way to get started in the ED after I separate from the military? Thanks, Maverick
