Scrub sizing vent...grr....

Published

I bought some scrubs from Lydiasuniforms.com. The pants, I'm not sure what brand they are, Cherokee I think? (the logo is a tiny triangle).

Well, i bought a size large. NO, i didn't check the sizing chart. I am 5'2 and around 170 pounds. I need a size large. Well, the size large pants are so big in the waist that they fall down my hips! I had to grab up a handful of the waistline and tie it up with a hairband to keep them up (no real drawstring).

We won't even get into the fact that I am way too short to be a nurse, too, according to these uniforms. They are "regular" length (didn't have petite) and and I hemmed em up 2 inches and they still are too long.

LOL. Check those size charts.

I haven't ever ordered scrubs online b/c of experiences trying them on in the uniform shop. I'm 5'5" but have to buy petite pants or else they drag...they also carry tall scrubs as well... they are no-name brand pants but run ~$15/pair

Well they're from Sears as I mentioned and they're made large. I have a 35 inch inseam and I wear a medium and the pants are longish on me . The brand is called Protocol. 65% polyester and 35% cotton. The pants are 32-34. And long like I said. I'm also fairly slim but I have room to grow in these. The top is not huge but also room to grow. Has pockets evrywhere as do the pants. (w/velcro snaps)

Funny....all the designers have these tall leggy types modelling their clothes but they distribute the clothes with half the length lopped off the bottom of all thier pants. Go figure.

Thanks! I'm with all you tall ones out there (a long-legged 5'10'' I am - yes, most of it is legs - hahahahahaha trying to find pants that are long enough) - I will be looking for these IF I ever get into nursing school :rotfl:

I know us short girls can hem anything but I'm not that domestic so that's probably not going to happen. I do feel for the taller nurses because they can't modify the pants and make them longer. I found one on-line shop that sells pants for a great price and they fit me great. Well, they fit great if I fold the waistband over one time however that also helps with the fit because if not the pants hang between my legs even if the bottom is hemmed (not my look). But I did think one day as I ordered that it would totally bite if I was average or tall and I ordered these pants (I'm 5'2" on a good day). By the way so you shorter nurses can benefit and taller nurses can avoid it's the standard non-cuffed, cargo-pocket scrub pants at uniformstore.com (I think the actual brand is White Swan but not sure on that one). As for the OP's problem, I've had the same thing though mostly with scrub tops. It's frustrating since I hate shipping things back.

Then there are those of us who are "regular" sized but have shorter legs and not much fill in the rear. Petite or short pants come to the ankles while we trip over most regular length scrubs and it always looks like we need a diaper change!!! :rotfl:

I'm tall and my chest is too big....

My legs stick out the bottome and my b00bs stick out the top! :p :rotfl:

You too huh Marie? I'm 5'11 and a bit and always have trouble.

wow you are a foot taller then me. I am 4'11''. not a nurse yet but want to be

Try being a tall nurse. Companies assume everyone's under 5'6"

well, since i am 5'2 and many scrubs are too short, I guess all nurses should be 5'3 and 5'6. That'd be a way to weed out nursing students- YOu're too tall! YOu're too short!

my preceptor is 6 foot tall, lol, I am a shrimp next to her. A pt's husband was calling us "the tall one" and "the short one"

When you order on-line, there is a reason that they give you a size chart

I know, guilty as charged. I didn't check. I didn't think that a large would vary that much from brand to brand.

I found some Cherokee pants on a website for talls, I'm 6 foot even. I just searched sites until I found ones that offered talls. Last ones were about $15. The hospital provided ones, I had to wear an XL to get them anywhere near my ankles, so when I cinched in the waist I looked like I was wearing jodpurs! Also the crotch hung down so far I was getting thoroughly chafed. Ow!

I think some of the sites carried petites too, it just takes a while to search them all.

Ugh..that's not good news. I'm also 5'11" and I have a hard enough time finding regular pants. I FINALLY was able to get jeans that were long enough (I have about a 34" inseam) through a catalog (Newport-News, for anyone who also has the same issue). I don't want to go through it all over again!! :crying2: Pooey.

Daphne

I'm in the tall club too...5'10 with a 34 inch inseam (need longer if I wear heels.) ;) Try gap.com - get most of my jeans from them now. Banana Republic also has tall lengths.

Landau makes tall scrubs in the basic colors...nothin' cool though. ;)
