I recently got hired as an RN and they want me to have a physical examination. I'm sure they will probably do the drug screening as well, not worried about that at all. However I am concerned about if they were to do an alcohol screening. Has anyone ever been tested for their alcohol level before employment???

Yes, I've done a breathalyzer a few times for pre-employment.

Quite a few hospitals as well as travel nursing agencies screen for alcohol.

Some labs include it in the blood screening.

It would take a special individual to show up for a drug test/interview with alcohol in his or her system.

Yes it would indeed! With that said, here's HR conducting an interview at my facility.

Concerned about the alcohol screen? Why w.......nevermind. Can't say I've ever been tested for it; wouldn't bother me if they did though.
