Schools that you dont need a TEAS to get in

Updated:   Published

can people name some schools where you dont need to take the TEAS to get in? I am in Michigan it would be nice to find somewhere close but I may have to travel if I want to be an RN

I can't think of any. All the schools around me require some test, mostly the NLN test.

My school doesn't. It is a bachelor's program, but I hate to say it, if you aren't able to pass the TEAS, I'm not sure how you would make it at a school where the average gpa is a 3.75. My program requires a ton of prerequisites that are arguably more challenging than the TEAS.

Many of the private, for-profit programs do not require the TEAS. However, the tuition for these schools is astronomical. There's Brown Mackie College, which is a trade school located in multiple cities and states. Click on the link below to read about their nursing program:

Clover Park Technical College - Practical Nursing

This school is easy to get into. It accepts eveyone with a 3.0 but there is a waitlist that is about 1.5 years (just long enought to get in state residency while you work as a CNA). There is also an 'opportunity grant' offered just by the school that covers only tuition and books.

Yes it is an LPN program but they offer a brige to RN that most of their students go into.

This is probably the easiest nursing school to get into ever!

ditto..the TEAS is a piece of cake compared to everything else required

Hi!

Certainly, not all schools here in Michigan require the TEAS. Some require require the HESI or NET; others don't require any of the common standardized tests.

For example, at present, OCC does not require the TEAS, NET, or HESI. They DO, however, require a very high GPA and a math proficiency test for acceptance. I believe MCC and HFCC require the HESI, as opposed to the TEAS. Similarly, I believe most/many of the local university programs do not require the TEAS or similar exam; they do, however, require a significantly greater quantity of prereqs, as well as a LOT more money for tuition.

Good luck!

If you can't pass the TEAS, you will NEVER be able to pass the NCLEX.

Being a nurse isn't necessarily for everyone. Just saying.

I don't live in your state but the CC I go to does not require the TEAS. The only test you have to take is the basic COMPASS test. If you meet the RN point requirements and have a high enough GPA you are good to go.

Even without the TEAS, our CC doesn't make nurses they weed out the ones that can't hang. It's a great program but it's tough. and you have the option of the RN to BSN bridge program with the University.

Most schools require some type of an entrance exam. I had to take one at my school too.

What i have noticed is that many of the individuals who have become nurses are not helpful hey talk down on everyone else but you are not a doctor. And i highly doubt any of you will become a medical doctor some day you lack the mental fortitude. When someone ask a question answer their question dont give them your opinion of what you think about them because they are asking the question. Their are many private schools that dont ask for the teas v exam . if becoming a nurse means i will loose my compassion for helping people then i dont want to be a nurse i have yet to meet one nurse who will actively help someone else become a nurse almost as if you dont want others to succeed in becoming something that will ultimately make your their equal. Grow up if you are going to say things so negative in this forum i wonder how much you actually care about you patients.

If I'm understanding you right, Aspiringnurse, you hold a pretty bleak opinion of nurses but seem to want to become one. And you are slamming nurses in general (who are you talking to here?) on a thread that hasn't been commented on in four years.

Are you still a high school student? Your message doesn't read like someone who is actually in college, honestly. It looks like the kind of writing I'd expect to see in middle school, even. Why are you being so nasty here? Why so angry?

I agree 1000% I'm sorry but I have met and worked with my nurses who have passed all these tests but isn't very bright. Taking a the TEAS exam doesn't prove how good of a nurse you will be! EMPATHY, and genuine care for another individual is what defines an amazing nurse. So do not discourage others to boost your ego!
