How many days till your pinning ceremony?

I also have roughly 1,125 days to go!

    Pre-nursing anxiety

I am having the same problem right now. I put that pressure on myself because I didn't do well in high school and now I think I have to have a 4.0 all the time. Somehow I have still maintained my 4.0 but... my social life is suffering, I feel ill a lot of the time, I freak out all the time, I no longer have fun, and I'm starting to sprout white hairs. I got a C on a paper last week in Written Communication and nearly died. I figure, it's ok not to get A's all the time because I WILL burnout eventually. It's ok to get a B. My school doesn't really accept on a GPA but on the NLN test.

Advice to become RN sooner rather than later!

I know you don't want to hear it, but that's what I did. I jumped right in. I moved to a city I knew nothing about last fall and enrolled in the technical college there. I did that based on the fact that my friend went to school there and has been an RN for five years now. Great school come to find out later, I'm happy with it so far, half way through my second semester of generals. Another friend I have became a Medical Assistant and is not happy at all. She can not find a job, she is not a CMA, and owes about $18,000. I would also recomment becoming a CNA. I'm trying to get a test date for the state test right now!

    $642.00 for Titers :/

Lucky enough, when my mom died, I found all my paperwork. Immunization records included! Thank god she kept all that.
  5. Psychology. Only for the fact that there is a lot to take in. There are a lot of concepts and definitions. Although, it must not be that hard as it is my highest scoring class. Once you take the book stuff and apply it to life, it gets easier.
  6. My school requires the class but not to become state certified. I'm waiting for my test date.
  7. Yes, because I am in the same situation. My school only requires basic math. I tested out of algebra for some reason but not the basic. You can get through it as everyone else that is bad at math can!

    Needs help.

What are your questions? I may be able to help a little, I just started myself.

    Anyone have trouble with psychology?

I am so glad to see I am not alone. I make notes of my notes and notes from those notes. I start with the online (mypsychlab) study guide and fill it out as I'm reading, then I take the chapter outline from class and fill that out, finally I make note cards (5x7 size) of that! Plus lecture notes. I have a hard time reading dry stuff, so on that online site I just mentioned, I listen to the chapter being read while I read along with it. I'm having a hard time with all the new vocabulary. It seems to go in one ear and out the other.

    Information overload!

Thanks guys. I've been away for a little bit. I'm in my 3rd week and it's going ok. Still a little bit of an overload but I'm getting used to it.

    Information overload!

Rant here: I just started my first "real and full" semester as a pre-core student and I feel overwhelmed. I'm taking 9 classes, which is equal to 12 credits. I went online to get the course info and handouts and just looking around and wow! This is the first time I've been in school for about 8 years and its so much different than high school. There are so many papers due and projects in formats I've never heard of. Where are my classes? What if I can't do all of my work? There is a lot of work to do! I've heard the one day at a time thing but I don't know how to pull it off, time management isn't my best skill but I never put things off to the last minute. Is all of this normal? It will go away, right?

How far would you drive to go to school?

My school is a 10 minute drive. There is no way I would travel over 40 minutes, I do that for work already.

Schools that you dont need a TEAS to get in

I can't think of any. All the schools around me require some test, mostly the NLN test.

    Any nursing student please help???

I did horrible in high school as well for the same reasons as the poster above me stated. I think many schools look at the fact that you graduated and what classes you have taken. Taking my school as an example, they didn't really care about my GPA. They were more concerned that I graduated and took algebra and earned at least a "C" in that subject. One school I applied to wanted transcripts and another just wanted a copy of my diploma. But you'll be fine. :)

    Nursing School Waitlist

Perhaps, take a CNA class and work as a CNA? My school is a petition process. It goes by those who live closest to the school (odd) and if you have to get a 100 on the NLN-RN.

    Starting A&P course tomorrow

Sorry for the dumb question here. What would be good to put on flash cards? Vocabulary? Concepts? Large cards with diagrams I'm not starting until the summer semester though. Good luck to those that are taking the class now! Thanks.
