I left school nursing 3 months ago to do hospice. I miss the kids and the hours but not the pay. Here in Florida I worked through the health dept. and the pay is terrible.

Haven't signed in in awhile. But I am signing on for year 3. But I am hoping that I can get a new school soooo much closer to my home than the current one 45 miles away. Will miss my little ones, but surely not the gas bill each month.Fingers crossed, interview next week.

I'll still be around but in November, it will be the end of my 5th year. Vested for 5 years and I'm out.

They haven't started advertising for my job yet but I'm recruiting! Only two interested and one is a younger brand new BSN student about to graduate. Not sure although she is smart and has lots of energy! Which I'm lacking in my 57th year here on earth.

I've offered to stay as a prn person like the one I've got helping me out with a diabetic kiddo whose mom insists on having the nurse do the insulin (which I'm actually in favor of to tell the truth). A law passed a couple of years ago allowing us to train laypeople but I've never been comfortable with that. And neither is mom.

I also work hospice and that's where I'll stay until retirement. And continue doing volunteer medical missions go Vietnam.

Lord willing, I'll be back. My campus is currently PK thru 4th with about 630 kids. Our district is realigning next year so I'll have PK thru 5th; that'll put me at about 750. I wonder if the district would buy me one of those Segway scooters like in Mall Cop?

I'll be back for my 6th year of school nursing. I can't say that I "love" it, but I can't really think of anything else I'd rather be doing either.. so, back I'll be.

I'm pretty new here :) I started at our high school after Christmas and will happily return in the Fall, I also do a little camp work over the summer.

I left my position in my beloved NICU for school nursing in Sept '14. I'm giving it another shot for the 15-16 school year.

I am waiting on a phone call and I may be joining you all!! I "left" nursing a few years back and took a Para job at my kids school. I love the hours and being where my kids are. Well, low and behold, the current school nurse turned in her notice on the last day of school! There are two nurses working Para jobs at the school, so they are offering it to us first. Fingers crossed!!
