School Year 2015/2016: Who's in?

Published

I know fetch is leaving (Boooo!) and some of us have talked about it.

Who will still be in our ranks next year?

I will!

I am waiting on a phone call and I may be joining you all!! I "left" nursing a few years back and took a Para job at my kids school. I love the hours and being where my kids are. Well, low and behold, the current school nurse turned in her notice on the last day of school! There are two nurses working Para jobs at the school, so they are offering it to us first. Fingers crossed!!

Good luck!

What is a "para"?

What is a "para"?

Its short for Paraprofessional. Its' what our school calls all the teachers aides. They require us to all pass a test or have a degree. So I was a classroom aide for 1st grade and then moved to the library/media center.

Specializes in Acute Care, CM, School Nursing.

I will be back, despite my ranting and raving...

I will be starting with a new district, and working with high school students beginning in September! I have high hopes!! :)

I will be back for the fall and just found out that I am doing summer school also.

I was so looking forward to summer and no school.

It is only for the month of June, so I will still have July to rest.

Hi all! I am a new school nurse. I start with the Los Angeles Unified School District this August and I'm very excited. This is my dream job! :-)

Welcome to the fold, teacherturnedRN!

I am in for next year. Did I say that already? I am too fried to remember. :roflmao:

You'd better be!

I'll be back for my 5th year. I don't think I can ever go back to being a nurse in a hospital.

Ditto!

I'll be in! I'm back! Technically a School Nurse again. I got a PHN position in a high school at a school-based health clinic and I got my foot back in the door. Best part of it all is I don't have to do the State mandated screenings or get my Credential in CA.

Specializes in School Nurse, Pediatrics, Surgical.

I am in for 15-16. I had my son in October of 2014 so I took a leave. I had a great nurse who came out of retirement to sub. Glad ill go back to well organized schools!
