  1. Hi all! I am a new school nurse. I start with the Los Angeles Unified School District this August and I'm very excited. This is my dream job! :-)
  2. Hi, LoveThisNurse - I would love to know the name of the hospice agency in California where your friend got a job as a new grad. I am also a new grad RN in California, have volunteered at a hospice agency for almost a year, and am very interested in becoming a hospice nurse. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you!!!
  3. Good luck to you, Will-b-an-RN! I started WGU 8/1/2012 and it's working well for me so far.
  4. Hi Nurse Jaydee - I live in Laguna Hills! How about you?
  5. Hi Chaisaci - I'm sorry you're unable to start 8/1; that's really frustrating. At least 9/1 is just one month later! Take care!
  6. Hi RNRules - I'm starting Wednesday, 8/1 as well. I spoke with my mentor last week for the first time and am scheduled to speak with her again this Wednesday. I'm happy with how it's going so far. Good luck to us all!!!
  7. How frustrating, Chaisaci! I hope you can still start on 8/1. What does your enrollment counselor say? Good luck!
  8. Hi RN Rules - How funny that you're using Khan, too! Good luck!
  9. Hi RNRules - I'm trying to get a headstart on some of my pre-req's (eg. algebra, statistics) by using the free Khan Academy website (not affiliated with WGU, but quite well-regarded and well-known). I was able to start EWB (and be assigned my Mentor) within 12-24 hrs of paying my tuition. EWB is pretty easy to use and informative. It is long, however - I did it over the course of two days. Good luck to you! Please keep us updated on how you're doing.
  10. Hi MyVieFolle07 - What a strange situation! I hope you're able to start August 1st as planned and find out VERY soon which courses you must take! Let us know what you hear this week.
  11. Hi RNRules - I have to take 5 other courses plus the core nursing courses, but I'll just try to move quickly through them. I've already paid my tuition and completed the orientation (EWB) and am excited to start August 1st. Good luck!
  12. I feel the same way, LynnR.N. All my transcripts are in and I'm just waiting for them to be evaluated. I, too, hope I only have to take the core nursing courses. Good luck to you!
  13. That's great to know, DanaRR! Thanks for sharing that info; I'll check out the facebook group.
  14. My enrollment counselor is Brandie. I sure hope I can find out all courses I need to take (and thus be able to estimate how long it'll take me to finish) BEFORE I pay for the term!
  15. I'm from California, too - Orange County. I believe proof of immunizations are required, as well as a background check. I'd love to get it done in 6 months, too.
