Hey guys! I'm starting nursing school in 30 days (*panic*). We've got to buy a dual-head stethoscope before school starts, and I've been looking all over. Found loads and loads on various sites.
Does anyone have suggestions for a good one to start with? What are you using in school, yourselves? Especially if you bought it online, as that's probably what I'll have to do.
So many thanks!

I'm buying the littmann SE. It not super expensive but not cheap either. I have been warned though that stethoscopes tend to disappear.

I believe professionals should have professional tools.
When you are learning and attempting to make sense of what you hear it is essential to be able to hear clearly. I highly recommend the Littmann Master Cardiology II.
Expensive, the most expensive non electronic Littmann but well worth the money. I can distinguish sounds with the MC-II that my colleagues with Classic IIs or Master Classics didn't even know were there.
I ordered mine online and had it engraved so that a clip-on tag can't "accidentally" fall off.
$200 sounds like a lot of money but considering I carry a $600 cellphone, $300 pair of glasses, $250 worth of books...a measley $200 stethoscope doesn't sound too bad.

I'm with asystole. I spent over a grand on textbooks my first semester plus tuition, so my $200 master cardiology littman is just another investment that I will use for many years to come. I had it engraved as well.

I got the Littman SE II for about $45 somewhere. I love it and it served it's purpose for nursing school.I have no trouble hearing heart and lung sounds with it. Once I become a nurse I plan on upgrading, however. I have heard that stethoscopes tend to disappear, too, but haven't seen it happen in my experience.

I'm starting in August and I got the Littmann Classic II SE in ocean blue
For those buying Classics and the comparable budget stethoscopes, why? Is it the money or just thats what you have been exposed to?

another possibility to consider is the adscope (adc) 601 convertible cardiology stethoscope. i bought mine from an individual on e-bay (new) for over half-off. it has a chestpiece that converts from pediatric diaphragm to adult bell. good luck with your decision.
Looking up all these model names. Thanks to everyone so far.

For those of you with the master card, how hard is that to use on peds? I'm stuck between that one and the cardio 3?
