Moving to Denver...1yr ICU exp ADN
I will. Honestly I don't really have a choice. We are moving regardless and I have to work.

Moving to Denver...1yr ICU exp ADN
Well, that's slightly discouraging. I dont particularly want to go into a long term care or rehab after being in ICU all this time.

Moving to Denver...1yr ICU exp ADN
I have an associates degree and have been working in a smaller ICU for a little over a year. My family is moving from Florida to the Denver area at the end of March. Do you think it will be difficult for me to find a job there? And what hospitals should I apply to? I come from an ICU with a very supporting staff. I'm a little nervous.

PBSC Spring 2012 hopefuls
I don't know if you got the answer to this question already but, you take a HESI every semester. But it's specialized to what you are learning in that semester. In fourth, you take an exit HESI in which you have to score an 80 percent to proceed to graduation. Congrats on getting in, don't be too stressed out. It will seem like a ton of information the first few weeks, take it one bite at a time. I'm headed to fourth semester, it's totally doable.

Teacher vs. Nurse?
Here is my opinion for what it is worth. Yes, Nursing is completely science based, but I don't think you have to love science to become a nurse. Instead, I think you have to really LOVE people to become a nurse. Before I started my nursing program, I had a completely different idea of what I would be doing as a nurse. I imagined it all as giving med, doing assessment and bandaging wounds. I was completely blindsided by the tremendous amounts of poop, pee and puke I encountered. On the very worst/messiest clinical days, it is my love of the patient and my desire to become a nurse that keep me going, not my love of science. And as far as the job market goes, some areas are better than other but things are tough all over, for both teachers and nurses. Good luck with what ever path you choose

Day in the life of a new RN Nursing student?
I have a nine month old. I take my lecture courses online so I can keep him out of daycare. I have clinicals all day monday and tuesday and wednesday skills class and a skills appointment or two a week. I am kinda like THATGUY, I have a strong background in science so I have not devoted as much time as most to my nursing program. If your 2yr old is on a regular schedule, use that time to study and do your assignments. With good organizational skills, going through a nursing program and still having a life is very possible.

i got a job!

PBCC-palm beach comm. college
So for me.....I got the bundle new (fundamentals, the workbook, the lab book and mynursinglab) and glad I did cause I highlight and write in the both the book.....plus there is so much info in the books i'm probably going to keep them until school is over. I also bought the ackley book new. I use it a decent amount and will use it through all 4 semesters, but if you can find it used pick it up that way. I bought taber's and haven't touched it, but it is important. I used an old nutrition book.....and honestly haven't cracked it. It was from my nutrition class a few semesters back. I also had an older drug book.....you can have a used one as long as it is within 2 yrs, i think. You could also rent this one but will end up renting one every semester. And will want to have one of you're own eventually. As far as, Fluid and Electrolytes made easy, I checked it out from the library. I haven't used it yet but will on this upcoming test. I don't know if they are making you guys get the online case studies. All in all, I think I spent 600 or less on books.

First time observing in the OR question
I just had my OR experience the other day. It was amazing. I was worried about getting queasy as it was at 7:30 in the morning. I ate a good breakfast and went in prepared for the worst and hoping for the best. I got to observe a total hip replacement and a divinci robot hysterectomy. It went well and was one of the most interesting experiences I have had. Good thing too, I needed it. I caught the mid-semester-itis and it reminded me why love the medical field. Good luck and let us know how it goes for you.
