We are private. Our school days are 1 hour longer than public and our school year is only 170 days. We started 9/14/17 and will end 6/8/18. We went in 8 school days after public started and will end 10 school days before public ends. Maryland has mandated all schools to begin after Labor day, making for a late June end of school year.

17-18

Staff: 8/21 - 6/22 (was going to be 6/27 due to snow, but luckily got an exemption this year)

Students: 8/28 - 6/22

18-19

Staff: 8/20 - 6/17

Students: 8/27-6/17

No snows days built in, was told we will add to after 6/17 if they occur vs having 3-4 built in in previous years.

My school has a 185 day school year vs 180 mandated by state.

OMG thank goodness they made that exemption- you must be pumped! For next year they are making all but the first two snow days Saturday make-ups which I am definitely NOT happy about!

So how does that stack up against your state's labor laws for mandated OT?

YUCK!

We are mid construction an addition to our building that the additional days were throwing a huge wrench into. It's a one year thing, but I'll take it!

I asked this when my employer stated that a call out on a weekend must be made up. Turns out, it went against labor laws if it made you go over 40 hours.

MA Public School

staff report 8/24/17, students 8/28/17 to 6/21/18. This year, that includes the 9 snow days we had (or it would have been 6/11/18).
