I graduated on May 12th and it's been a LONG wait for the state to finally issue authorization to test with Pearson. July 7th at 8 AM is the big day.
Our nursing program gave each graduating nurse a scholarship "gift" of the Kaplan 4-day NCLEX prep. I've been doing practice Q-Bank questions nearly every day. So far, I'm doing pretty well on the trainers & Q-Banks. I simply cannot wait to get this over & done with. I have a job lined up and I cannot start until I pass the NCLEX, per their policy.
Anyone else taking their exam next week?
Congrats to all that pass. I am getting super super nervous....
Part of me just wants this exam to be here already. I did another Hurst Q-Review today #3 and got 81/125. My score keeps dropping
and I noticed I get most of the SATA questions wrong .
I hope I will pass...feeling so anxious but I have 3 more Hurst Q-Review exams to complete so in case I fail, I can at least
get my money back from them.

Do you think maybe you might be over-thinking the answers? I know my scores on my Qbank & one trainer test on the Kaplan dipped when I was studying content like crazy and trying to make sure I "analyzed" the question. I found I was reading way too much in to the question. Taking the question at face value, not reading "well, this could happen" in to it got my scores to go back up. It's so easy to 2nd guess yourself, isn't it? I absolutely *hate* SATA questions because they're my downfall when it comes to reading too much in to it. It wasn't until I had a nursing instructor tell me to treat the SATA answers as true/false. Does the single item answer the question? Check! If it doesn't, leave it unchecked.
You can do it!!!!
Willow, your experience was exactly like mine. Lots of SATA & prioritizing. I also had no alternate format as well. One med math and exam shut off at 77 questions. Here's hoping we all get to put RN after our names!
I agree with you all. The camaraderie & support on this site is wonderful. I'm cheering you all on! :)
Yep, no kidding. My test was basically just 50% SATA and 50% priority.
I also agree with Soprano's advice. Take a day off, or even just a half-day. I was honestly getting extreme anxiety leading up to my test date. But I believe that taking time off allowed me to reduce my anxiety and remain calm during my test. I felt much like Soprano. I was calm during my exam and felt good about my test afterwards.
Also, for anyone reading the thread... I really can't recommend UWorld (their rationales are seriously amazing) & LaCharity's Prioritization, Delegation, and Assignment (very good for priority and very quick to get through, about 20-30 questions per chapter). But really, there are many valid sources and ways to study for the NCLEX. Those were just my two favorites out of everything that I tried.
Hi everyone,I have been looking for some reassurance as my test date is July 9th and I am super nervous. I have been studying since May and took the hurst review as well as a couple thousand practice questions. I suppose no matter how much I study I will never truly feel ready.
Fingers crossed and any last minute suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Hi B:
I am not sure how to encourage you. I think that nursing school and questions truly do get you ready for NCLEX. I could only advise: think: safety! Choose whatever is safer for your patient and you as a nurse. That's the key!
I felt nervous too. On the day of the exam, though, I felt more anxious to get it done with. If you read the previous posts, I have described how I felt exactly.
I did feel prepared though.
I took Kaplan course, online. I did all of theier trainers, and all Q-Bank. I did NCLEX 4000: all of them!
I read HESI review book, I got stocked up with info, till it was flowing out of my ears. BUT:
there are guys who dont do a quarter of it and still pass. So, please, be positive and keep your patients safe!

strawberry! Take a luxury of doing something good for yourself! Go see a movie, like now! I think you are just overly tired from studying. Set a goal, one Hurst in the morning and then the rest of the day for movies and ice cream.
Think: whether you want it or not, the day of the exam is imminent. It will soon pass with some result: good one or bad one, but it will be over soon!
Think: I am smart, hard working and confident. I will get my license this time or another. But I got this now!
Believe in yourself!
My family believed in me more than I did. But I felt frustrated.
I was afraid to let their expectations down......I am so happy I passed. But I WAS scared as a bunny
update:
it has been 36 hours since I have completed the exam: I got to know I passed from continental testing website available in IL.
However, as it figures, quick results don':lurking:t bring any info. Nothing is posted. I bet it will be exactly 48 hours for official result to become available.

As long as you're reviewing the rationales, you're still studying content and improving your ability to answer test questions. And 81 is still very, very good. I know HURST recommends 84, but that's not a hard number where anyone who falls below it won't pass. That's still roughly 67% correct. And if you're answering 67% of the questions on NCLEX correctly... you're well on your way. A lot of test banks only expect nursing students to score in the 50's or 60's. It feels so low, right? I don't think any of us are used to essentially getting D's and F's in order to pass. Just remember that it's impossible to know everything. The NCLEX is testing for minimum competency and that's it. And roughly 85-90% of first time test takers are passing... so that's in your favor! :)
Believe in yourself. You can definitely do this.
