I graduated on May 12th and it's been a LONG wait for the state to finally issue authorization to test with Pearson. July 7th at 8 AM is the big day.
Our nursing program gave each graduating nurse a scholarship "gift" of the Kaplan 4-day NCLEX prep. I've been doing practice Q-Bank questions nearly every day. So far, I'm doing pretty well on the trainers & Q-Banks. I simply cannot wait to get this over & done with. I have a job lined up and I cannot start until I pass the NCLEX, per their policy.
Anyone else taking their exam next week?
My nursing license arrived in the mail today...YAY! Now it's really official :)Got my scrubs ordered (they're being embroidered with the hospital logo as we speak). I ended up getting a pair of cute, colorful Dansko shoes. I wasn't sure if I'd like them or not, but they were so comfy. I just loved them. The guy at the scrub store said Danskos are definitely love 'em or hate 'em, with not much in between.
5 more days til I start my job!

How long do you get to train with another nurse before you're on your own? We had a home nurse for infusions for a family member and she loved the autonomy :)

They have said about 2 to 3 weeks before I am out and about on my own. I love it for autonomous schedule as well! It is not all that new because I have worked 4 years in a home health office. So I knew the perks prior to entering. I have been aiming to apply to CCU, but with my upcoming school and family duties I cant work nights or variable schedules at the moment.

That's great to have so much flexibility! :) I'm waiting to start BSN courses in January so I have time to get used to my job first. I've been so burned out on school, it's nice to have a break! I worked on courses towards the BSN in between semesters at nursing school, so I will only have 10 more courses to complete to finish the BSN.
