scared of final!!

Published

I cannot tell you how freaked out I am about finals! I have our last unit test on Monday and Then Wed is our final! Last semester I dropped 2 % overall grade which didn't bother me as I was in the 80's percent wise.

This semester (Nursing III) is a lot tougher content - psych content (lots of meds), cardiac stuff, respiratory stuff, blood disorder and immune stuff, abg's - do I need to go on?? Right now my score rounds up to 79%. with 2 more tests left, I'm scared! Do I focuse mainly on my unit test then cram cram cram on content that I'm not that great at and hope this last unit test brings me up enough?? Arrrg!

I need a 76.5% to pass (it rounds up to 77%) and there's about 100 questions on the final.

I am right there with you, I feel your pain. I had a 78% before todays test. I got a 75.9% on todays test so I am not sure if I have the 75% that I need to pass. Our final is May 11 it is 180 questions so I have to do GREAT on this final to pass. I am SOOOOO scared, I have SOOO much riding on this one test.

Hang in there

We are down to one test before the final....I have calculated my grade based on a decent passing grade on this last test, which has helped me determine how much weight my final will have on my semester's grade. See if you can figure that out...

I know that if I do well on this last test, I can do as poorly as a 69% on my final and still maintain my "B" (I'm second semester).

Figuring that out may help you decide which direction to go. I would think any kind of a decent grade on your last exam would help ease the strain of that final. But wow! You sure have those tests pretty closely together. I would probably emphasize knowing as much as you can for that test while doing review for your final.

Best wishes to you both!!

Dunno know if this helps or not but all you can do is try ur best. Review areas where u know u were weak. Studying NCLEX questions in those areas can be somewhat helpful. In the end, no matter the outcome, at least u can say that u tried ur best.

Hi.. I'm in the same boat. I had an 81.8 average before our fourth exam last week. I don't want to make excuses.. but my grandfather passed away the Friday before Thursday's exam. I thought I was okay, but with a thousand people in my house every day.. and all the emotions..and staying up the night before the test to cram, I got a 67.5 on the fourth exam, and it brought my average to a 78. Now I have the fifth exam this Thursday, one week later, and I am so motivated to kick a**, but I am panicking. I don't know when the last time I got a 67 on an exam was. Anyway I just wanted to let you know you are not alone.. we will do this!! Good luck and let us know how it goes.

We have to have a 75 % NO ROUNDING on the FINAL itself or we fail the entire class. Doesnt matter if you go in with an A or a C. Ugh.

Turn on your answering machine and disconnect from activities that distract you.

Go through the content of what is required for the test. Don't study what you already know. Study for two hours at a time, then do another activity (physical is best -- cleaning, walking) for an hour. Go back to studying, taking breaks every couple of hours. Watch a movie in between.

Eat healthy between now and the test. Don't think about failing. Don't study the day of the test.

I had to let go of study groups, because everyone's emotions made me more anxious.

You have several days to study the material you don't know well so you can get a higher grade.

Believe in yourself. Good luck.

I know the feeling of being freaked out all too well. I'm currently hovering passing (78% in my program). I haven't any words of advice or encouragement to say, except that You are not alone in your fear!:icon_hug:

i think the above is just an outstanding answer.

you're going to have to swing for the fences on both tests. the better you do on the last unit test means less stress for the final. devoting all that time for the last unit test means less studying time you'll have to devote to that material for the final, so it's not wasted energy.

one of my strategies is telling myself "first things first". that means you have to do everything you can to get the highest score you're capable of on that unit test. don't think about the final yet - it's too much energy that you need for the unit exam. once that is done, then start kicking butt for the final. all your effort for each test will be fruitful. resign yourself now to having no life and little sleep until these two tests are over. better to work yourself to death now than taking the whole thing over again. you can do it.

(plus, i have found that finals were not as hard as the other exams, and i do pretty well on them....do others find this to be true?)

good luck. you still have a fantastic chance to get through.

You are not alone here, as others have said. I'm hovering at 76.5% currently with one unit test and the final to go. We have to have 76% even with no rounding. I went from having one of the highest grades in the class first semester to having barely a C this semester. I had to learn how to study as my old methods just were not working for this semester. I am scared! But I agree with the idea that I won't have a life for the next 2 weeks till its over. To that end I'm getting off here and going back to studying. Thanks for remotivating me folks!

I am with you all...My final is Monday. 40% new material and 60% old..I have been studying a little every day for about two weeks and having study groups for the past few days. I have felt pretty good until tonight, I feel that I know absolutely NOTHING. I feel like the only questions I could answer would be ones that have wash your hands or assess for breathing as obvious answers. What has happenened? HELP....

well, today I had my last unit test. I got a 79% so now my Grade is up to 78.3% didn't do as well as I thought I did. Sometimes I swear, the better prepared I think I am is when I'm not. KWIM? Anyways. If there is 100 questions on the final, I can miss 38 I think is what I figured. Some cushion yes, but what if..... Oh gosh, I can't even think about it!

Trying to learn congenital heart defects which I bombed earlier in the semester. I know the stuff I did terrible on is what I need to focus on. 1 day left until final and then I find out if I move on to Nursing 4. With luck and prayers - I'll do it! Good luck to everone else in your finals adventures!!
