Even though I love psych, I ended up picking cardiac. I actually start June 1st.

How long were you in ND for? Any decent places to live in the downtown area? I checked out the area via spotcrime.com and saw that it might be a rough neighborhood near Sanford off Broadway. Would you say this is accurate? Where did you live before Fargo?

Thanks in advance for any info you can give, I appreciate it.

I didn't live in Fargo, but did visit it. I think it's probably safer than a lot of places. I'm from a big city, so I definitely felt safer in ND than where I live now. Fargo's pretty cool, cute shops and some night life and the rents are cheaper than in other parts of the state. I really miss ND actually. I met some really nice people and I had a very good experience at my job. I really wish I could have stayed longer. The facility I worked at was wonderful. I've heard good things about Sanford also. Make sure you're careful with the winters as it gets extremely cold and you'll need a "winter survival kit" when you drive in the winter. I think you'll have a great experience and might want to stay a while.

I've been in Fargo for a few days now, so far it doesn't really seem that bad of neighborhood. It's usually just quiet, with the occasional kids on bikes/rollerblades, people walking their dogs, and a couple of joggers here and there.

Let me just say that it is a hassle without a car in Fargo. I've been commuting via cab, bus, and walking and while it is not too troublesome, it can make you really long for a car. Getting my license and purchasing a car is on the top of my list right now.

I'm living in Northwood commons, it's nothing spectacular but rent isn't too bad. Right next door is the high pointe complex and they look really nice but substantially more expensive. Another good one is the cityscapes complexes. From the picture I've seen, their apartments look very new and nice but also expensive. However it is located in downtown which is the prime location. There will be more restaurants and I would imagine it is quite safe there.

At Sanford, the starting rate is in the low 20s per hour before differentials.

Were you able to secure an apartment before you got there, or did you visit before and get it before the final move?

I got it before I moved there. I just called and emailed them and I was able to rent the place.

Hi,

I will be starting on the cardiac ICU floor in October. I am so honored that they chose me. Now for the hard stuff, looking for a place to live.
