Hi everyone. Im wondering if any of you are planning on applying to San Jac ADN program or are in the program?

Lets talk about it here

Specializes in NICU Level III.

have they already accepted people for the fall 09 class?

Not yet. The application period doesn't end until June 1st, then they might have us waiting for a while, hope fully not too long.

Yeah... I heard that we'd hear something around the end of June or beginning of July. That seems like an eternity!

good luck in getting in! i am almost done with the first sememster. it was an adjustment at first with time management but now that i look back it wasnt that bad. i will be starting second sememster in June which consists of med surg 1, med surg II, and pharmacology. i heard this is the most difficult one but im ready for the challenge!

Ooh yeah, I bet! That's 3 classes in one summer. One class is usually hard enough! Good luck.

So, what was the schedule like during your first semester, and did you have to drive all the way to Galveston or Spring for your clinicals?

Thanks melmonlove :) How much math is there involved in the program at san jac? (its my worst subject) Can you tell us more about the program please? Do they do "weed out testing?" I am curious very curious about it.

have they accepted ANYONE for fall 09? my friend swears he got in but i dunno how as he hasn't taken any APs or micro. i had no idea you could start nursing courses without those and you think they'd be a killer to take WITH nursing courses.

Wow, I would like to know if thats true because I haven't even gotten my application submitted! I know for sure that AP's and Micro are required for the program.

Anywho, I got my ACT results back and managed to get a 26 despite being pressed for time on each section :) Now I need to get my stuff together.

Is there a for that I need to mail to the BON? I think I overheard someone talking about having to wait to that back.

NO NO and NO!!! No one has been accepted for the Fall 09 semsester. The application period ends on june 1st. All prereqs must be completed before ANY nursing courses can be taken. The only paperwork that needs to be taken care of with the BON would be a declaritory order, which only needs to be done if you have a criminal history. Congrats on your 26 ZippidyDooDah!!:w00t:

Thanks Dawr.n.622 :)

No need to get that sent off then.

first semester consists of Fundamentals Tues - Fri for the first 8 weeks and Health Assessment on mondays. The material is not difficult but its just getting used to using critical thinking on test questions. The second 8 weeks consists of Intermediate Skills (which is the second part of fundamentals) on tues and thurs., health assessment continues on monday since its a 16 week course, and clinicals on wednesday and friday. my clinicals are in the medical center, dont think they are sending people out to galveston right now. you normally go choose a patient they day prior of your clinicals and do a care plan (which normally takes anywhere from 5-7 hours). Careplans are really not that bad and a great learning process. The key thing is prioritizing your time and not procrastinating. some of the students have still been working through first semester, but many say it wont be possible once second semester starts. I dont have to work and its been less stressful on me that way.

What option did you use to get in melmonlove? A or B? I so far have a 4.0 on the pre-req's, but I graduated with my first bachelor's five years ago and I only took the SAT, which I don't want to take again. So I was just wondering if option B was a good way to go??!!
