jacob is my 25 weeker (now 4 months actual and 3 weeks asjusted). We have been home from the NICU for 3 weeks only and Jacob has been readmitted into PICU with Severe RSV. Paralyzed, vented at 100% and heavily sedated. Left lung has partially collapsed and the right lung is looking awful.
We have been off oxygen since 39 weeks gestation and I am wondering if this Bronciolitis will set him back any with his lungs? Does CLD/BPD tend to worsen after a bout of this?
Thanks in advance
Shelley
I am sooooo sorry. I will be praying for your family; recovery and strength.
I did a google.com search and got a bunch of hits. I would suggest starting there for more info.

Think these two articles mught help you to understand this disease:

Will keep you and Jacob in my thoughts and prayers.
I am also sorry to hear about your precious little one. My prayers are with you and your family at this time.
I have had 2 patients in the last 6 months that had 'BOOP' and the only thing that helped them was large doses of steriods (solumedrol) round the clock, as well as antibiotics.
My very best to you and yours. God Bless!

Praying for you and your baby. I had a pt. deliver @27 weeks gestation last weekend and have to get transported to the tertiary centre. We were already to transport the mother, but re-examined her and she had progressed from 3-6 cm in less than 30 min. A dear little boy too. I hope your son and this little guy do ok. I will be praying for both and their families too. This babe's mother was also a nurse. Please keep us up to date. It is a hard time of the year to have your child be ill.
wow I am late in coming in here.
I have no words of wisdom beyond offered here. My daughter was hospitalized with RSV and double pneumonia as a baby and I know the mortal fear you face. I am so very sorry.
Good news is, she is recovered and well. Yes, it's true, since RSV (respiratory synycial virus) is a VIRUS, there is not a "cure" such as would be for bacterial pneumonia or anything bacterial.
I can imagine the pain you are feeling....the heartbreak and fear--it's palpable to me. I send you my kindest thoughts, deepest prayers and well wishes. I ask only one thingof you:
Please let us know how you and Baby Jacob are doing?????? I wish I could say/do more. I feel helpless sitting here but you have my thoughts!:kiss
