Well...?
I start 8/30, but I get 30 paid hours over the summer for sports clearances and the like.
kidzcare was in NYC, but I didn't get a chance to see her!
The Kid graduated. We are headed to take them both to college later this week!
Hope to see new faces, as well as my buddies! Missed you all!
Long time lurker as I figured out my next nursing adventure. I have recently moved from home care to school nursing. I think my assessment skills and ability to work independently will help me but other than that I am really worried about how new I will be and, unlike most every other nursing job out there, there seems to be no training whatsoever. Looking forward to tapping you all for advice. I go in on the 30th, school starts on 9/6.
Welcome! This board is a great resource. Also, if haven't already grabbed it, the book "School Nursing, A Comprehensive Text" by Selekman is a great resource. A little pricey, but maybe you can get your school to buy it for you
Hi everyone! I returned to work on Thursday the 10th for some computer training and then Friday the 11th was just clinic setup and cleaning. The students returned to school on Monday. Monday & Tuesday were a bit overwhelming with medications and paperwork being piled on me and my desk all day. I have waded my way through and I'm so happy to have started things off on the right foot. Last year I didn't start at the beginning of the school year and so I suffered through the year trying to fix what wasn't done properly to begin with.
Here's to a great year for all of us!!!

New school nurse here-- came from ICU. Finishing up my third week of school nursing and I already love it (even though I've got SO much on my to-do list). I'm learning all about things I haven't discussed since nursing school.... I definitely need to read up on ringworm, ear infections, and eczema... and put sepsis away in my brain's filing cabinet. Looking forward to learning and growing in my new role. Glad I found this page!

OK so probably dumb question, but what is the schedule like for the kids? Do they go all 12 months of the year and have random weeks off within those 12 months? I was always curious about that.
