Well...?

I start 8/30, but I get 30 paid hours over the summer for sports clearances and the like.

kidzcare was in NYC, but I didn't get a chance to see her!

The Kid graduated. We are headed to take them both to college later this week!

Hope to see new faces, as well as my buddies! Missed you all!

I'm back for year 2, I start tomorrow! Got myself a new school though, hoping for a better working environment. At least this time around I know what I'm doing, and my new school isn't a "medically-fragile" site so the work should be easier. Maybe this will be the famous "boring school nursing" job I'm always hearing about.

(Raises hand)

I'm jumping into the school nurse saddle.

I'm not on contract yet due to insanely slow HR department at large, urban school district but just put in my notice at big hospital job. I got my school assignment and dropped by this afternoon just to say Hi and let them know they will have a nurse starting 8/28. My population is almost entirely Hispanic and lots of English language learners so I'm a little freaked out as I currently don't have a good grasp of Spanish ... ok, I can order liquor and say hello but that won't help in the school. It's all quite daunting but I'm hoping after I get through the first few months I won't think I've made a HUGE mistake :)

I'm here! I don't start until tomorrow, but have been checking in here lately to get my school nurse brain functioning again. Wishing all of you a great school year!

I'm back! Workshop Week and Open Houses are this week and the kids are back on Monday.

I'm in a new district this year (the ones my kids attend!) in a more leadership role versus day to day nursing care of students. I'm one of 3 RNs who work at the district level and supervise the LPNs who actually staff the health office at each school. I got a warm welcome yesterday for my first day and am super excited for this school year. I'm way calmer and feel a lot more prepared than last year when I was brand new! Happy to be back here at the School Nurses' Station! I've missed you all and hope everyone had a wonderful summer. We spent 2 weeks in Alaska this summer and IT WAS AWESOME!!!

Our school year started yesterday. The first day of school was CRAZY (least year I was hired at the last minute and in orientation the first couple days of school so I missed the chaos).

I missed my kiddos over the summer!!!! I now have my daughter grand granddaughter at one of my schools. So exciting!!

I hope everyone has a great school year!!

I'm here!! But I really never left... the school I work for goes year round. I'm about to start my 3rd year here :)

I'm here; starting my 17th year as a school nurse. Wow - I wish I didn't do the math. I slid back into work last week with inservices, meetings; back in my clinic this week; students start Monday. I'm ready...

Present! this is my second full year. Feel like I KIND OF know what I'm doing now. This is day 5 for us. :)

Long time lurker as I figured out my next nursing adventure. I have recently moved from home care to school nursing. I think my assessment skills and ability to work independently will help me but other than that I am really worried about how new I will be and, unlike most every other nursing job out there, there seems to be no training whatsoever. Looking forward to tapping you all for advice. I go in on the 30th, school starts on 9/6.

Happy start of school!

I'm here as a full time school nurse this year! I have new staff orientation the 23-25, and then report in that next Monday, August 28th, kids in on the 29th. I've been working on getting my office cleaned out and organized when I could get in over the summer, though waxing floors has taken a lot of time from me! It's getting there, though!

I had to reorder ALL of my first aid creams, ointments, and lotions because EVERYTHING was expired. Lol. It's been an adventure!

Have a great year everyone!

Brand new this year. Transitioned from an ICU to a middle school. Hoping to reach out for advice along the way.
