Stop by, introduce yourself, say a little about yourself. :)
Hello everyone! my name is Melvisha, I'm 25 yrs old and I'm married with 2 kids ages 2 and 4. I have been a LPN for 6 years and I am currently enrolled in an ADN program to obtain my RN. I am very excited even though it is a lot of hard work. I think it's a little easier for me since I decided to take all of my pre-reqs before hand. I would recommend that to everyone.
I currently work part-time as a substance abuse nurse and it's a great job, very interesting. I will graduate from the program in May 2007, I can't wait. Well good luck to everyone on your nursing journey.
Wanted to say a quick hello! I'm an LPN currently going to school to get my RN degree. My experience being an LPN has not been very positive, I find that a lot of people (pt's and RN's alike) do not recognize my title as being a "real" nurse, so I'm hoping as an RN I will finally be recognized for the efforts I make. It's unfortunate. LPN's are REAL nurses.
Hi,
I am an LVN working in an ENT surgical practice for almost 2 years. I have been a nurse since 1991, am working on my ADN. I am doing the self paced thing and have 3 courses left before I can sign up for the CPNE. I am soooooooooo burned out right now I am wondering what the heck am I doing going on to school!!! :stone I am 47 years old and for the first time EVER I am ready to stay home. Worn out is the word for it I think:monkeydance: . I have 2 grown children, 2 grown step-children and 7 grandchildren. I love to read, sew, spend time with the grandkids, and hubby of course.
I totally agree with grad2008, I just got tired of hearing for 10 yrs that I was "JUST A LPN" or can I speak to the RN..so thank GOD on 6/26/06 I just graduated from RN school, I believe I will be a LPN at heart for life..RN is just a title..to get the respect that I know I deserve..so to all of you fellow LPNs on the road to reach your goal as a RN...GO FOR IT!!!!!!!!:monkeydance: GOOD LUCK!!
Hi everyone,
I have been taking pre-reqs since I was in LPN school. Still have 4 more then will transition to Fast-track program at local community college. With working full time and 5 kids, it has taken it's toll. My wife is an RN and works PRN. We both work Psych. I have had experience in Home Health, LTC, Substance abuse. Wondering if I should try to expedite the process and go through Excelsior. At the pace I'm going at, it could be a couple more years. That is quite some time considering the pay difference.
Anyway, good luck to all. It will be well worth it when we accomplish our goals.

Hi there everybody!
Graduated from LPN school August of 1989 and have been a LPN ever since. Have worked in all settings with the exception of Home Health, OR, and clinic-type settings. Currently work in Med/Surg and have wanted to be an ICU/CCU nurse since like forever. Need to be a RN to do this and finally after all of these years, I am back in school, part-time and will finish May 2007. Great to see you all out there!!!!

Hello everyone. I have been an LPN for 9 years and just enrolled with RUE to get my RN thru Excelsior College. I have read some posts re: this and now wonder if that was such a good idea. Too late now, I believe, but anyone have any suggestions? Anyone else get their degree by going thru RUE Ed?
