Hi all,Forgive me if this question has been beaten to death: I am beginning my Excelsior program. Am I correct in understanding that I can get the books and study guides directly from Excelsior and test/clep out locally prior to actually enrolling with Excelsior? I have read something like that here on the board. I seem to understand that if you enroll immediately, you have to re-enroll every year?
I see that you gor no replies to that. Try posting that in the Distance Education forum, I am sure they will know.
Well I guess I should tell everyone I am finally an ADN graduate. YES!!! I know alot of you at this point don't see the light at the end but it will come before you know it. I can't wait to take my boards and finally be done.
:smiley_aa Congratulations, Michelle!
Hey, and thanks for the words of encouragment too!
Hello!
I am 33, married no children, just a very SPOILED 7 year old Springer Spaniel! I have been an LPN since 2000. Prior to graduating from LPN school I was a CNA for 8 years. I work in the ER (fast track) where I have worked since graduation. I am currently in my 2nd semester of the RN program (diploma, hospital based.) It's a 22 month program and though I could have went to a shorter program and graduated with an ADN, I chose my current school based on the excellent reputation.
Hi Guys,
I'm an LPN and have been one for 14 years I'm currently finishing my prerequites so that I can either get into one of the nursing programs and or do the home study program which I have already paid for. I only have a&pII left and microbiology. I currently work with children. I love working with the kids hate the politics at work. I would love to travel on an assignment to Hawaii. Im single and 34 years old. Can someone tell me alittle more about the Excelsior College I would only have to take 7 exams and then sit for boards after I do a weekend of clinicals but I'm not sure of all of the details.
you can request info directly from excelsior college. you are right, you will have the nursing classes and clinicals. the info you get from ec explains everything. they charge $65 to evaluate your classes to get into their nursing program. then, there is an $895 enrollment fee.
the info the send is pretty complete.
I am happy to say I finally graduated March 06 from a LPN to RN program. I got through NCLEX pretty well. Our school has a very high pass rate for NCLEX. They make the tests so hard in school that when you get to NCLEX it doesn't even seem too bad. My theory is that I overanalized things in school and the instructors always said not to read anything into the question. Well in NCLEX they really want you to think things through so it was almost easier than the school exams. I graduated as a PN (June 2004) and took NCLEX July 2004. Then I got into a transition class September 2004 and had to wait a quarter to get in. Since they don't have summer quarter I was able to graduate March 2006. The hardest thing was getting Pneumonia half way through November 2005 but somehow made it through. I am a firm believer in prayer now as I don't think I could have done it on my own without a lot of support. I made some incredible life long friends at school. I am so glad I did it. Now I am trying to look into school to get my RN to BSN...now there is another potential place to search for on this site. All the best to you all!!!!!
