Thank you for your quick reply brownbook! I’m used to the fast pace after working in the ER, and the ASC. I’m the ASC our docs were scheduled with procedures every 15 min and we had to get them in and out (very much like an assembly line lol). I do have my ACLS as it has always been required for any of my past jobs. I have some tons of moderate sedation in my years as an ER RN, but it sounds like this particular center uses CRNA’s and she specifically said the RNs no longer sedate. And nobody can be as rude as the last MD I worked with lol!

Hello! I am an RN with over 15 yrs ER experience and most recently was employed at a spine center as an ASC RN (for 2 years). I resigned from my ASC position as I decided I wanted to try being a full time housewife lol, I’ve been home for 2 months and want to get back to work! That being said, I have an interview with an outpatient Endoscopy Center tomorrow I’m very excited! I was just wondering if anyone here had any advice on how to “shine” during the interview lol! Also I was curious on typical pay rates for this type of specialty? I’m racking my brain expecting the “why do you want to work in endoscopy”? My only answer I can come up with is “it sounds interesting, and I have a few RN friends who work In Endoscopy and absolutely love it”. Any info you could pass on re:interview tips, pay rates, job environment would be very helpful! This would be a M-F position the center is open from 6am-4:30 every day except for Friday’s when they close at 4!
  4. Hello, So way back in 2009 I was terminated from my job as an ER RN, I was accused of not documenting some wasted medication in the Pyxis, the BON was involved but thankfully they did NOT bring anything in my license. I received a letter from the BON that stated that they found no reason to do anything with my license, and it was still in good standing. Following that job in 2009 I have worked at a few different ER’s and every time the incident of my termination is brought up during my interview, I make sure to be honest, and every time I had been hired. Fast forward to a couple of months ago I had an interview in the ER in my town, I wanted this job soooooo badly and thought the interview went well. The Nurse Manager called me back shortly after the interview because he forgot to ask me about my termination. As with my other interviews I was honest, even disclosing that the BON did nothing against my license and I also pointed out that I had bee RE-HIRED by the same health system that had fired me. A few days later I received an email from HR that said basically they are not going any further with me tho they were impressed with my qualifications (I’m assuming I did not get the job due to my termination in 2009) I was heartbroken. Since I did not get that job, I applied to 2 other ER positions in the same heathsystem as the one I didn’t get and have not received an interview. I’m wondering if maybe they flagged my app as not hireable? I’m wondering if I should just re apply when they have another opening to show that I’m really interested, or just let it go? I normally would have just let it go but I REALLY wanted this job ☹️. Sorry for the long post, but any advice would be appreciated.
  5. Hello, I currently live in Virginia and will be relocating to Pennsylvania. I have an interview at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown on June 30. I was wondering if anyone has or is working there. I'm specifically wondering about pay, I have 16 years in the ED. Also scheduling, do they do self scheduling . What are the weekend/holiday requirements? I know I will get more of this info at the interview and/or at time of offer (if I get one). But I'm a little impatient lol!

Do you mind me asking what part of Maryland you work in? I just saw a full time opening in Hagerstown, I'm very interested in applying as we will be moving to the area this summer.
  7. It's going good so far! It's a huge learning curve for me, but I'm catching on lol! I'm loving the hours, the week goes by so fast.....but of coorifice so do the weekends :/ Are you in orientation now?
  8. Everyone seems really nice! We had 3 case managers in my orientation class who were going to be working from home ! Like you, I've spent the last 20 years at the bedside (CNA, LPN and RN) w/the last 13 yrs in the ER. To say its a culture shock would be an understatement lol !
  9. Hi! Congrats on your new position w/WellPoint! I started in the Va Beach office on 4/28. I just finished the company /computer training and will start training on the floor tomorrow! So far I think I'm going to really like it . I am a nurse Medical Management 2/UM nurse! Where are you going to work?

    Good luck!!!!

They really only asked a few questions, the basics like what would your coworkers/boss say about you? Tell if a time you had a conflict at work & how you delt with it. It was very laid back. What office did you apply to?
  12. ER_RN07 replied to ER_RN07's topic in Case Management
Thanks for your reply! I have since interviewed for both jobs, was offered & accepted the UM position @ WellPoint! I'm very excited, tho I have no idea what to expect!!

Hello fellow Nurses! So after 13 years as an ER nurse, I feel it's time to move on. I have become increasingly interested in CM/UM. So, as luck would have it, I have an interview on Wednesday at my current hospital for a CM position.., and one on Friday for a Nurse Medical Management position @ WellPoint! I am curious of the pro/cons of CM in a hospital setting vs Medical management in a managed care setting. Anyone working @ WellPoint in a Nurse Medical management position? How is the pay? What's a typical day like? Any interview pointers? Thanks I'm advance!

Hello! I am an ER RN (13 years), I have been looking to transition from ER to Case Managment. I have applied to a few insurance companies w/o success. Yesterday I came across an opening for a Care Manager @ my hospital ?! I promptly filled out and faxed a transfer request form. My question is, besides my 13 yrs clinical experience, what can I do to increase my chances of landing this job? As CM is completely different than anything I've ever done, could you tell me what a typical day is like? Did you take a big pay cut if you went from bedside to CM? Thanks !
  15. I was pregnant with twins and worked full-time night shift until my water broke @ 31 weeks. At 18 weeks I helped boost up a patient, started bleeding & became a patient myself. After that I was a little more careful on who I boosted up lol.
