Stop by, introduce yourself, say a little about yourself. :)
hi,
I'm a 44 year old LPN who has just started the long haul for RN status. I have to take one class online through a ND school and then can take most of the rest through my local tech school online. When I get off the waiting list I will take the rest (clinical) at the local tech school. I've been an LPN for just over 8 years and I love it. However I finally decided to go for the better pay and more responsibility. I will miss the one on one with the patient though so as soon as possible I will be getting into a unit at our little hospital. Either ER of OB.
Hey ya'll, I'm a 28 year old female and I just graduated with PN on Dec 14. Now I'm scraping up the money to take boards. In my school we head right into the RN program, I will start back up on Jan 17. I will graduate with RN in Dec 06. After that, I will go to BSN!!! Look foward to chatting with ya'll!!
Hi. I have been here for a long time, so introductions are probably not necessary. However, I am 23 years old, married, with three and a half children. I am currently pursuing my ADN through Excelsior and my bachelor of health administration online. I will then plan to complete my RN-BSN online. I know I am taking a very untraditional route to complete my degrees, but it made sense. I needed most of my general eds for Excelsior, so I planned to enroll in a general education degree, but found that my time and money would be best spent completing a second degree at the same time that could benefit my career. Many of the gen ed requirements are the same, except for the base sciences which I am taking at yet ANOTHER college online. It can be confusing, but the end justify the means. So add me to the list. LPN-RN-AAHA-BSHA-BSN. Add the list goes on...
Also, I work part time nights on an advanced dementia unit.
Yea! I'm so happy to have our own forum!I'm 34 y/o, been an LVN for 12 yrs. now, start 3rd semester of BSN program Jan. Think I'll split the semester up, hate to but I work as well and think 17 hrs. will be too much.
In my program, I only know of 2 other LVNs (out of a class of about 130 ppl). I think as LVN/LPNs we come to the nursing programs with a unique perspective so, again, it's so nice to be able to connect with you all and I'm very eager to hear about your experiences, etc.
How many years altogether will you have/had to go to school for your BSN? Good luck. Im looking to go back also once I finish LPN school. I am already accepted.

In total it'll be 5 years. I didn't have any pre-reqs @ all startin' out, so I feel okay about 4 in 5, I guess, just not gettin' any younger though, you know?
You are so smart to be getting a head start on continuing your education, butterflybee... :) .
Good Luck! :balloons:

hello! awesome idea marie, by the way, to start a forum for us LPN to RN students!!!i am a 28 year old LPN, been one for 9 years, and am nearing the end of my studies of Excelsiors ADN program. I started last December, and have a couple more general eds to complete before starting to tackle the clinical component. Hoping to be completely finished next fall and take the NCLEX.
I am seriously considering going right into a BSN program as well, don't want to put off going finishing school for another 9 years. Still unsure of what exactly I want to do once I am an RN. So many things interest me!
I live in Michigan, work with geriatric rehab patients and love my job (most days). I have really enjoyed expanding my knowledge this past year while going through the nursing component! I love to learn....
I am also a single mom to my two munchkins....a 3 year old and a soon to be 5 year old (this month!!!) And also waiting to complete school so I can have some surgery done on my back.
I think that's enough blabbing....sorry!:imbar
Hi! I'm Eileen-(crazynurse), I work in ltc and my unit has just gone to palliative care.I've worked on this 60 bed all male unit for 12 years and decided to start taking courses through Excelsior----- FINIALLY! I'm 58 yrs old, have 3 adult kids, 7 grands, and am helping my husband care for his 90yo father--I work the graveyard shift 12-8. I also have an avon business! I'm starting on nursing concepts 1.

Marie, an almost 29 yo LPN in the O.R., no kids, mom to a tank of fish and a few plants, never been married, going for my associate's in nursing part time. The eventual goal is an MSN, since i would like to spend my final years in nursing as a classroom instructor.
