I've been an LPN for 32 years and am now attending the very same college that took me thru my LPN training. Amazing huh? I'm taking all my prerequisites this year and summer hoping to be accepted into their actual bridge program in the fall. Then I would be doing the clinicals and nursing classes and graduate in May. Its hard work but I really am focused now on this. Its about time I got paid for all the work I already do LOL!!

So how do you like the 12hr shifts and what days do you do? I just left my 12hr job and have been out of work for 6 weeks!!! This apparently is a bad time to find a new job. But I've now been offered a new job at a Sub Acute Rehab facility fulltime. They know I'm in school, and say they will mix my shifts to fit..7-3 and 3-11pm. Im so used to working the 12hr shifts I hope this all works out. If not, well then I'll be looking for another facility that does them. What would really work best is a weekend program....but we'll see!! Good luck to you too!

I'm Julie, 42 year old wife to dh, Mom of 6, step mom to 3, and Grandma to (almost~ in March) 5.

I work as a LPN on a dementia unit, 12 hour shifts, and attend school Monday thru Friday for my BSN.

The hardest classes for me right now, is, Statistics. This is my 2nd round taking it, and I am praying to pass!

Best of everything to all of us!

I'm a former LPN (6 years) and a new grad RN.

I am an LPN and just finished my last RN semester. So I will probably be able to take boards at the end of January beginning of February. I found out the beginning of this semester I am expecting #3 at the ripe old age of 39. I currently have 2 Five year olds. I am not working because I wanted to concentrate on making decent grades. Good luck to everyone.

Forgot to add that I have been an LPN for 16 years.

Specializes in Neuro, Acute, Geriatrics, Rehab, Oncology.

I have been an LPN since 1990 and am the mom of 2 boys ages 10 and 13, a stepmom to a 15 year old and am owned by two dogs and 2 cats. I am studying for my CPNE now. I have taken FOREVER to get this far due to life circumstances but here I am. I am nervous about this clinical exam I believe mostly because of the cost riding on it and my GN hinges on it too!

hello everyone~ i am an excelsior college student. lpn for 8 years. finally getting my rn. i am halfway thru the program!

celebrating today! i just passed my a&p exam! woohoo! :nurse:

Hi I am Sherry. I am an LPN and I work full-time doing stress tests for a cardiology office. I have been signed up with RUE for over a year and still have not taken my first exam. I cannot seem to get motivated to do this. I know it is something I need to do and I want to do but maybe it was a mistake trying to do it on my own. I am beginning to think I should have just gone back to school. But now I have all this money into RUE. I don't know what to do. Any advice?

Indiana State University has an LPN-BSN program that can be done completely online. The clinicals are preceptored in your area provided your state is on their approval list. Check out their website at www.indstate.edu for more info.

Hi everyone! My name is Tiffany, and I have been a LPN for 2 1/2 years. I am 24, no kids (yet), no husband (yet). I started back to school last January and will graduate in May '06 as an ADN. 1 more semester!!!! :balloons: :balloons:

Hello. My name is Emmy. I am a 42 year old single mom of a 16 year old rock guitar player. I have had a wonderful time this semester studying to the smooth sounds of Def Leppard, Jimi Hendrix and Judas Priest. I have finals for the next four days so my darling child is staying at his best friend and bandmates house. God bless that child's mom. I have one semester to go and then................................I CAN'T WAIT TO START WORKING.

Not going to complain too much about the kid, though. He made almost $600 playing the guitar last weekend. If he keeps this up, I may not have to work as hard into my retirement!!!
