Hi I was wondering what the dialysis RN training looked like for both Davita and Fresenius respectively. The number of weeks, hours, exam etc. Is the training the same?
I am looking into getting into dialysis and wanted to know how the training varied.
Thank you!
I have a friend who works at Fresenius. I dont remember how long her training was but she loves it there. She's a new grad. She says a lot of her co workers like working double and some work 12 hour shifts because it gives them the option to take more days off during the week. (working 3 days a week instead of 5). However, because shes a new nurse she's not allowed to work a double or the 12 hour shift (atleast at her clinic). The manager says that it will be too much for a new grad to handle, so as of right now she only works 8 hour shifts 5 days a week.
I believe half way through training she had to get passed off from a nurse educator and towards the end there was a written exam that you HAVE to pass. If you do not you have to take it again and pass.

Yes, that's how nursing works st Fresenius. New nurse (<1 yrs experience) has to have an experienced nurse in the building with them for 1 yr. Any nurses who have >1 yr acute experience only need experienced nurse with them for 6 months. I love how our program is

Davita is 12 hour shifts- start times depends on clinic. There is 16 week+class and clinic time for training. You learn to be a PCT for like the 1st 8 weeks or so, then do your RN orientation.

Davita in California has the exact requirements for new grads/new nurses. We take a lot of new grads and they do really well.

My clinic nurses never work longer than 10 hours. I split up the shifts and overlap. Wow, and at our area clinics, all are like that. I am a clinic manager at F, my bestie works at D and she gets the 16 hours 3-5 days a week. We are a 6 day a week clinic
