all the moderators get notified of all reported posts. we look there and the first dozen posts are wonderful, helpful, really good.

then on occasion a little bickering between posters, totally off the subject starts up and takes up a couple of pages back and forth and sometimes gets nasty.

now, do we leave this mess, do we delete this mess...heck even i don't know. if you want to "disagree one on one" take it to pm and don't spoil the good posts.

ok y'all. debate is good. consolation is good. challenge is good.

backbiting, bi*****g, nasty comments are not good.

play pretty now and follow big daddy's rules you all agreed to when you registered here.

My solution:

When I run into flame wars, I post a simple explanation of how to use the "ignore" feature, for those who don't know about it.

Then I put those who get sucked into the flame war on MY ignore list. I'm not interested in reading foolishness (unless it is my own).

Duckie....I'm as confused as you are. I miss one day of reading treads and don't have the foggiest what's happening.

I'm afraid that I might be one of the guilty ones this go round. Trying to rally the troops in response to a news release I went a bit over-the-top with my lead-in and found out so,me were not so thrilled at my attemp to whip up some nursing passion. So, I went looking for my original thoughts in an attempt and dress it down, but the powers at be ripped ( for lack of a better term) out of nursing existence ( actually much better in the long run I suppose). I felt bad for my over zealous approach and sent a apologize to an offended member.

I like the idea of free speech but not at the expense of others. I will use this as a learning experience and set my sights on a better way to invoke my felt passion.

God, my first rebuke and not ever through my first semester.

Regard,

Stephen

I would like to thank the people that sent me PM's so that I would know I wasn't one of the involved persons of which you are all speaking. I would rather cut off my fingers than to type something to hurt any of you. You are all my BB brother's and sister's of which I care for and appreciate.

LOL Vegas!!!!!!!!!!

There are people on this board who just like to instigate trouble. They don't even need a controversial thread to do this. I know others choose to use the ignore feature. I choose not to because I become too confused when reading other posts in relation to ignored posts. (Also I have to admit I get a little to curious) I think I just choose to not comment on the posts that need to response. If people begin to get into a flame war I stay out of it.

This Board is made up of 1000's of nurses. All of whom come from very different backgrounds. If you put 1000's of nurses in to a room together you would probably get the same bickering as we get here. This is human nature.

This board tends to go through cycles of everybody getting along and then someone gets bored with all the nicey nicey and gets everyone all worked up again. Didn't we just go through this a month or so ago????

Now I recall some raucous stuff here lately where the second amendment was quoted and misquoted a few times. My favorite amendment is not the second but the first. I may not agree with many of you but I will defend to the death your right to disagree with me. And what about that part about gathering in groups peaceable.. Isnt that what we're doing here? Far out, Baby!

I will say that I too have reported a couple of threads, but only when I felt a poster had really lost the "debate" and turned into just pure meaness or attacks.......usually it is after I feel there is no return from where they ahve gone and I report it.....some days I just can't stand the hostility, but it has been alot better lately so good job guys!

Thanks Jon...I will pass that message on to my husband. And to the others, if the shoe does not fit, I would not worry.

OK there is no ONE thread. :)

Amazing how imaginations soar.

Look to the lower right corner of a post [Report this post to a moderator]. When a thread gets out of hand all you need to do is click that to call it to attention.

The reason my post appeared on student nursing is I forgot to change forums before I hit the SUBMIT key. No other reason.

If we get a report we MUST respond. I can't tell you who because I don't remember. Other than the outright advertising or Mediaography that is removed immediately, each report is carefully considered.

A lot of words just to say, please watch what you type.
