I need to get as many answers to make my choice.

i'm reporting an employer who i worked for and gave blood, sweAt but sometimes tears. I worked about 3 to 4 years a at this rehabilitation center were the work was rough. The patients were paralyzed and some times had brain injury. I was Perdiem and the pay $15.00 for necessary work to help the patient. I have add and naturally very hyper=energetic, always did my round, never ignored a light of patient. I was very helpful and young . This was about estimate 9 years. Im not bipolar but i am unique with a very kind heart. I have a psychiatrist and psychologist. Early in my life i was told i was bipolar took meds and they caused me to try suicide etc The bottomline whatever was going on then honestly came from being young, stress because i was a single mom with going to school. So yes iwas hyper and a really good CNA. I wasnt perfect was late slso i worked 16 hrs sraight.

I applied recently but was told no for an administrative position. I i was told no.

the recruiter mentioned the name the high ranking nurse. Over a month went y and i called the recruiter back for a RN position. I asked to forward reference letter and added info. Could you believe the recruiter said no because theindividual making the decision remembers me. Insisted but then all became cleat. i was judged for add realized not onlyhow iwas paid back but my hupermess only made me and me mae

ms ifelt horrible. I requsted empllyeecjart

they also judged me not on skilli was a nsg assistant Today Im a RN, BSN

Does the OP perhaps have a communication issue related to being ESL and/or psych issues that precluded him/her from being promoted, hired? Because I could not decipher their post. It could be a catalyst as to why their overall profile was considered not appropriately qualified or undesirable... based on the details the OP provided this would not be grounds for a true discrimination case. The OP claims "Today Im a RN, BSN" doesn't matter if you have punctuality issues, and if you can't communicate effectively or have other issues that prevent you from collaborating well with others, or being able to focus on a patients needs ahead of your own feelings. This job is not about you; being a nurse means you put the needs of your patients as your #1 priority... it's not an easy gig or appropriate for someone with major personal issues, esp. if they can't set their issues aside to do their job. I've known plenty of nice "RN, BSN" who spoke such poor, broken English and/or had ego or mental health issues that made them inappropriate for nursing... because, above all else, it created safety issues. Thus, these people were not hired and that's not discrimination... it's patient safety. If you're proficient in another language, great... but you have to be proficient in the dominant language of the place you wish to work in. Thus, if you choose to work in the States/Canada a strong command of English is required, and (it should go w/out saying no matter where you choose to work) you need to have a good handle of your emotions/psychology when on the job.

To the OP: take a deep breath, sleep, and in the morning hopefully your thoughts won't feel so clouded. But I suspect that rest, more than anything, will do you the best right now more than rash decisions, action. Sleep on it.

Very well said, and as easy to understand as written communication from a person with a BSN education should be.

Based on your post, I too would have declined to give you a promotion. Never casually claim discrimination unless you have irrefutable proof of it in your possession. You start claiming discrimination and you will quickly find yourself unemployable. Word gets around in healthcare and it gets around fast.

I'm confused how the denial of a position is proof of discrimination? Sometimes we just don't get the job. Happens every day.

It was *so* difficult to follow your train of thought. But from what I could decipher, you were not discriminated against. What proof do you have that they discriminated against you other than you didn't get a job? I wouldn't waste my time, money or energy with lawyers & lawsuits.

From this post I could see why you turned down for a job. If you're going to be in a management position you need to be able to communicate clearly which you did not do. I also have a nagging feeling in the back of my head that you are *not* a nurse, or at least don't have your bachelor's. You have to write comprehensible papers in a BSN program. I don't see that happening.

I have been turned down from jobs before. It's life. If I tried to sue every employer that didn't hire me I would be dead broke, living on the streets because of all the money I wasted.

Your post appears to be written under under the influence of too much Christmas spirits.

Yes, the spirits of Christmas past, present and future all rolled into one big "kerfluie" maximus.

Thank you, I appreciate the compliment :). Especially because I get put down a lot for being "just a lowly diploma nurse" :sarcastic:. The charge nurse in my former bedside position said this to me within the context of me trying to address the unfair weighing of pt. assignments... I was told my opinion wasn't valid r/t my credentials, and was essentially told that diploma nurses are stupid. I passed this information along to my union rep and the charge nurse in question was ultimately fired. Now that's an example of discrimination.

I am in the midst of completing my BScN, but am often treated like I don't have a brain or am from a lower caste system because I don't have those letters "RN, BScN" after my name, yet.

It's always nice to hear kind words. So, thanks :) and Happy Holidays!!!

Based upon your previous posts, you are in a monitoring program and most likely have stipulations on your license. So I do not believe it is discrimination. I hope everything is still going well for, with your recovery.

I think everyone is in agreement this does not sound like discrimination, which by the way you spelled incorrectly. Good luck with your job search.

Hi Caffeine! Here's another compliment. Some of the very best nurses I have worked with in 37 years have been diploma nurses. In fact, my CVICU manager is a diploma nurse who graduated from this hospital's nursing school over 30 years ago. No whining and complaining from diploma nurses, they just do their jobs.

Oh my... this is very difficult to understand. So let me try to rephrase what happened in chronological order:

- You worked really hard for 3-4 years in a rehabilitation center, in a position that was quite challenging. Sometimes you showed up to work late. However, you feel that you were very dedicated to your patients

- You are very energetic/"hyper". You also have ADD and may be bipolar, although you state the latter may have been a misdiagnosis.

- Recently you applied for a position (not sure if it was an RN or administrative job) and you were rejected

- You believe the hiring manager did not give you said job because you have ADD

Is this correct?

If so, I have a few questions...

- How do you know that your ADD diagnosis was the reason you weren't hired?

- Is your ADD well controlled? If other people are noticing it to the extent that you describe, it is possible you may need a medication adjustment.

- Are you certain that you are not bipolar? Your "hyperness" could be a sign of mania. Did you ever seek a second opinion?

I can not provide legal advice, as I am not very familiar with discrimination laws, especially without knowing what state you work in. However, I think it would be very difficult to prove that the reason you were denied a position was because of your ADD.

We want to help you but it may be impossible unless you can provide more information or clarify this situation for us a little. There are a lot of typos, incomplete sentences, etc.

Do not report your employer for discrimination. An appropriate decision has been made. Why? Your previous postings suggest that you do indeed have some mental health challenges, which is a liability to an employer. I am not saying that having a mental health diagnosis disqualifies you, I'm saying that your previous posts give great detail which would be used against you and also show that a position in health care with great responsibility is not suitable for your situation. Your current post is in a public domain and speaks volumes of your current state of mind. Get the appropriate help, stabilize yourself, then try to restart your career. I am not a doctor, but clearly you are not in a good place right now. My heart goes out to you.

Looks like a relapse. Soon to be starting over2017.

Best wishes.
