Several years back one of our clients had 18 natural (by 1 guy) Then her oldest dtr died in childbirth bringing forth #5, so Mom takes her 5 grandchildren to raise while her youngest is only 3! She was in her early 60's and had great great grandchildren. She said they wouldn't be able to have her funneral at a church or mortuary because just with family therer would be too many to fit either place!! She said that she'd have to have it in a park. I told her she'd better be sure that she died in good weather!
Well--this certainly isn't a record--but last year, I took care of a mom that was the same age as me---24, and she was having her 8th child. She had her first at 15 and basically had one every year after that.
Dang! I'm 24 and could not imagine having that many!!!! I had my first son at 16, he's now 7. My baby is 5 months old. I have my hands full with 2!
If I had any more now I think I'd be crazy:chair:
I'm the 8th of nine and the baby girl. My mom graduated in 1954 and times were just different then. I would not trade it for the world. My bother's and sister are the best in the world. We all have a good time together. Now that our parents are gone all we have is each other. We're really close without being high maintnance. We're getting together for Halloween and I can't wait. I haven't seen some of my brothers and sisters for six months or more. My oldest nephew is 13 month older than my youngest brother. They are really tight. I'm really glad that my younger brother has people to look after him. He hasn't had any parents since he was 21. I don't know. I know my upbringing was a little bit odd, but I would not trade it for the world.
NurseBaby/Elizabeth -- What a great post! Your parents must have been amazing people! Your story tugs at my heart a bit, I have an only who has no cousins and I worry constantly about who will be there for her! I hope she marries into a big loving family! Thanks for sharing such a positive experience of a big family! B.

...I mean by one mother! How many of you have worked in L/D long enough to have frequent fliers and how many babies have they had?! Same dad, different dads? Tell you stories!
I'm also fascinated by multiples!
