today i just met with an acadeic advisor at my school and found out some very discouraging things. 1. i will have to stya at my cc for another semester, 2. my academic record is distasteful because i have two w's and one f, 3 i have to take another lab(i recently developed a hate for labs). i was so happy becasue i finally thought i had everything figured out, my transfer was gonna be smooth, my grades were good, and class is almost over but now i have slipped into a sad place. considering the fact that it is gonna take me three years to get an associates degree and 6 years to get a bachlors i figure i might as well try to get into an assocites/diploma nursing program but, after talking to the advisor i am really discouraged. the advisor told me i wouldnt be a good canidate for my schools prgoram becasue they select students on a point system and i had lost three points because of my withdrawls and my "f". finding this out i figured if my school wouldnt want me no one else would. i am trying to not drown myself in sorrow but it is very hard because i really thought i would be able to start my program in fall 04. i needed to vent! thanks for listening, i must now prepare for my bio and sociology test tomorrow.

hon, don't give up....it's easy to give up, don't take the easy way out.

There are ppl in my prereqs who have been working on them for 4 years and are just ready to apply to the CC, they still don't have enough classes to get into the BSN.

If you don't mind me asking, what school are you planning on transfering to? I ask because I'm moving to Philly.

what is bankruptcy on a failed classes?

Sorry to hear that things aren't working out for you right now.

This is the time to re-think why you decided to be a nurse. Let that be motivation for you to keep going. Trust me, if it were that easy, there wouldn't be a nursing shortage right now. Also, keep all your options in mind and keep yourself well informed of them.

I moved and the school I transferred to does not allow you to go directly into the ADN like my former school. I will have to transition from LPN into the ADN. A minor setback, but I will still get there eventually and even as an LPN (Dec. 2004) I will still be a nurse and will have another year to be an RN.

Don't get discouraged. Use any negativity as motivation, because I've been told that I won't finish, won't make it, blah blah blah and I just use it to push myself harder when I feel I won't get through it.

Hope you feel better ;)

i will be transferring to through a dual admission program. i am at community college of phila. now. and thanks for the motivation everyone. i really need it . words cant explain my discouragement right now, but i am rying to just keep going and work harder.

Don't quit! If this is something you really want you just have to keep telling yourself that ,no matter what , it will be yours someday! You can do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

Hey! Don't get down on what someone else told you. If you've been doing well with your recent work, that should be taken into consideration. People withdraw from classes for a number of reasons. Another thing to consider is eventhough you may have dropped a couple points, that still may be better than another applicant. If you don't think it's likely that you'll get accepted into that program because of that, look at and apply to a few different programs. I think it's good if you stay flexible in your school choices.

What ucandoit said- If you have had good grades in the past, keep at it. Hope all goes well for you!

All of these road blocks are just detours and can be overcome with continued commitment. Time is just time. Use it to your advantage. Best to go into the program with a strong foundation. Getting into nursing school is difficult. When you get in, you'll know you earned it.

Given that you are all of 19 yrs of age, you shouldn't get too discouraged. I don't doubt you want this now, but you have many many years of being a good caregiver ahead of you. But you will definitely have to straighten out those grades, and dare I say work harder if you really do want to accomplish your goals. It's not going to just happen.

Hey im also a CCP student! I was just inducted into Phi Theta Kappa this past saturday. SO if you need any help at all in any pre nursing classes (i will be done at the end of this semester after I take my micro final) I would be happy to help you out just PM me! It can get rough but if it makes you feel any better I have a 3.6 GPA and because I had one withdraw in a dumb history class that interfered with my daughters care, I was considered to be a null candidate for there program.

I was informed that it is the cream of the crop of the Nursing programs in philly and if you dont have all of your pre reqs when you aplly and your record shows even one W then your not getting in. Dont get discouraged I was accepted to Methodist, Frankford, Nrtheastern and Holy Family in the fall despite communitys decision, so dont get discouraged! I have seen many of your posts on here and you look as though you really want to be a nurse, dont let a couple setbacks stop you from accomplishiong that dream. keep in mind that $28 an hour wage graduation in philly will bring to you!!!
