Rant About Covid Antivaxxers

We have all dealt with chronic care patients who keep coming back to the hospital because they have COPD and refuse to stop smoking, have CHF but can't be bothered to be compliant with their medications, or they are ESRD but they won't change their lifestyle, yet expect to be rescued whenever they eat a bucket of chicken while drinking a case of soda but can't make their dialysis appointment.

A more experienced nurse told me in my first two years of nursing that she thought 20% of the population used 80% of hospital and healthcare resources. I admit my dentist has used every tactic to try to get me to floss daily... what can I say? Some habits are best learned when very young - I just can't get it done. That point being, that even intelligent people (me...LOL) can't always be made to follow a long term treatment plan if the risk of not following it, doesn't feel real. 

Covid antivaxxers... I am sorry to say I am all dystopian fantasy about this. It is all those chronic illness frustrations rolled into risk of death in the fast lane scenario. I am nearly radicalized. I think that anyone who refuses to mask, get vaccinated, wash their hands while propagating myths about fake news should be required to get a special tattoo.  

Then when they show up in the ED with Covid symptoms, and test positive... we ask to see the spot where the tattoo is mandated to be placed. When it proves they are fake news antivaxxers... they are escorted out of the hospital by a team in space suits to "the fairgrounds". The fairgrounds has a fence and armed guards and plenty of organic food, water, shelter, sleeping arrangements.... no phones, no computers, no Fox News, no radio.... make them be inside their own heads. Have them reassure each other it isn't real until those around them die.  If they actually survive and can agree to be vaccinated before being released... then they can be released. 

My county is full of fake news people. We have a vaccination rate of 49% county wide. Covid admissions are up in the region and at our hospital. We don't have that big of a hospital. Having 8-11 Covid cases is a lot for us. 2 of the 12 ICU beds and the nurses caring for them is a lot. 

You don't believe Covid is real? Then we will allow you to continue with your thoughts and beliefs when you contract it, you will battle it alone at "the fairgrounds". Yes visitors are welcome... but if they enter, they cannot leave. 

Seriously... we need the right to refuse to serve those who threaten our lives and families. They expect to be saved? Darwinian ideas full scale. We are only interfering with it when we try to save these idiots.

I said it was a rant... whew...

I think a lot of anti vaxxers are actually very selfish people wrapped up in themselves and never appear to appreciate what they have. In other words, ungrateful! 

When you think of the rest of the world and what other people have to go through to even get a vaccine, whether they even have vaccines in their countries, and here we have people with such privilege, that they can refuse! 

Evidence or not, if they look at Brazil or the African countries, even places like Russia or China, where because of the despotic regimes, actual honest information is tainted and their vaccines half as effective, you know that those people are suffering with very little choices available to them. 

Those people are still right leaning, yet they are lapping up the Dems aid package and going to church and judging others! It must be wonderful to live in such ignorance! But, there are always consequences for the ignorant and unprepared! Always!

We have to stop gaslighting because it serves no purpose except to fool the very people using it. Dems don't fall for it, only republicans! 

The biggest gaslighting done in this country though is to tell people that we are a democracy. We are fascism through and through except in the Democratic leaning states and cities. Even the GOP is fascist! 

Fascism is essentially the concept of one set of people thinking that they are better than the other! The GOP thinks that it is better than minorities, women, LGBTQ etc which is why they gerrymander and voter suppress every chance they get. They have no respect for anyone non white so they feel justified in doing what they do. 

I have no doubts that some anti vaxxers use this rationale to not take the vaccine! We live in white communities and we have God and it came from China etc. Then you have the even more ignorant, who thinks it's an experiment on them because they are so SPECIAL! Except, it's the same vaccines being given worldwide, but they wouldn't know that, because the news they subscribe to, is only domestic and very likely local. Even their information is sanitized and politisized! Exactly what fascists do! 

It's what politics and religion does! It isolates you into these small groups to control you! China, Turkey, Hungary, Russia etc. Kind of like chicken coops or herding cattle. And they think, that they are making free choices?

We are an Oligarchy not Fascist. The top 10% of the economy dictate 78% of the policy. We are not a epic battle of Dems vs Repubs: we are fighting over the scraps.

I think what frustrates me now compared to earlier is how many beds unvaccinated patients with COVID are taking up in the hospital.

Before Covid we could reduce risk with distancing and masks only but people still got COVID clearly. Now like 98% of our patients with COVID are unvaccinated.

Between the med surg, pediatric, and ICU units I think there were 45+ beds being used. Meanwhile the 30 patients waiting in the ED for beds upstairs have to wait, the ED staff are stretched thin, the floor staff can’t admit, the MDs and RRT are always running seeing patients. 

It also doesn’t help that many of our COVID patients are always on the call light, can be very demanding, keep getting up on their own but don’t want to keep their monitors on. Certainly not all or most but when we get them I’m still I’m just like ?

This is exactly correct, IMV...the USA is an oligarchy with rapidly growing and unsustainable wealth inequality. Too many Americans have been convinced that their own economic struggles are caused by immigrants or poor single mothers (welfare queens).

How do think they explain to themselves about their childhood vaccines? You think, they think, that they came out pre vaxxed from their Mums? 

I wonder if it even crosses their minds about their childhood vaccines? I'm pretty certain that they don't know the difference between a conventional vaccine and a RnA vaccine!
