Random Thoughts about School Nursing not juicy enough for their own topic start here!
My mantra lately: "Wash your HANDS, go back to CLASS and cover your COUGH!"
Believe it. It used to be for religious beliefs but that changed to reasons of conscious. Since not everyone has a religious belief it would exclude some people so it was changed to reasons of conscious; theoretically, everyone has a conscious - so there, no discrimination.
But...flu for all?
I just was called out to a bus for an "emergency." No mention of what. I grab my go bag.
Driver is agitated...I ask her what's wrong.
Wait for it....

"THE KIDS ARE SAYING *** HAS HEAD LICE!! I CAN'T HAVE THAT ON MY BUS!"
The kicker? Not even my student. Goes to an adjoining school.
Is there a full moon?

SERIOUSLY???????????????? I would have been tempted to throw my go bag at that dummy.

This is what I wish for Christmas:
1. That the people I call home for because their child is sick will a. answer the phone and b. not be irate with me because they have to pick up their sick kid. You knew they were sick when you loaded them up with medicine and dropped them off. And no, the school clinic is not a day care for sick children, much as you'd like it to be.
2 . To the the "mother", I called home whose phone is disconnected as were the emergency contact numbers. . You have a 6 yr. old child with a 102. fever. I couldn't in good conscience send a sick baby home on the bus to walk by himself to your house alone with the possibility that nobody would be home, so I and the teacher followed the bus home, and went to your door and you weren't even there. You didn't care that your 6 yr old was coming home to an unlocked empty house. Happens all the time, per your kid.
3. To have the absolute gall said parent to come after me yelling and screaming once I was able to get an updated number and call you.
4. To show up 25 minutes later and continue to create a scene which necessitated me calling the police.
You should be ashamed to call yourself a parent. You don't deserve the title. You're nothing more than a drug dealing b**** who breeds. Nothing more.
Not very Christmas-like or charitable, I know. I'm just really fed up with people swearing at me, slamming the phone down on me, and causing major scenes in the front office because they don't want to be bothered taking care of their kid.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. I hope you reported to CPS. This is a clear neglect case.
