My mantra lately: "Wash your HANDS, go back to CLASS and cover your COUGH!"

Quiet day today..I couldn't figure out why. Then I realized..It's McDonald's night (fundraiser) and we have rule, if you are sent home sick, no after school activities. Works for me!

Teacher walks in my office and asks " by chance would you happen to have a blood pressure cuff?"

Me (rolling my eyes): Can you tell me what it might look like? (yes I have a smart a$$ side sometimes), anyway I pulled out the cuff and she then asks if I know how to take a blood pressure, she thinks her new med is making her blood pressure go up since it is for high blood pressure. Blood pressure reading was in range of what she says it usually runs.

Confuse the teacher even more by properly pronouncing sphygmomanometer. (I can't do it on the first try)

Should have said 'no, but I slept at a holiday inn express last night'. Ugghh. People😜

I have a few random thoughts about leaving district nursing next week (going to work as more of a 1:1 in schools instead). Want to guess what some of them are? I'll get you started: 1) no more head lice checks; 2) no more wasted correspondance regarding missing immunizations that won't be followed through with anyway; 3) no more department meetings, that are useless because LVN's have no say in anything and are treated like warm bodies; 4) no more doing someone else's job because it is assumed that I have the extra time (that might be my favorite one so far). What did I miss on this list?

today's random thought: if you're not willing to wait for 5 minutes for me to finish my phone call to assess you, then i will assume you are fine. My phone calls are work related - I'm not chatting with my college roomie, not placing bets with my bookie, not talking to my telephone psychic... i can not interrupt the phone call from the doctor I've been playing phone tag with for 3 days because you wish to tell me you bumped your leg 3 days ago. Just sit and wait

OMG "flip my twinkie" just made me burst out laughing in the middle of our clinic and now my MA's are looking at me like I am nuts!!! You guys crack me up!!!
