My mantra lately: "Wash your HANDS, go back to CLASS and cover your COUGH!"

I was also asked where one would go to find band aids yesterday, that got a snarky reply as well. I think everyone ran off and forgot to bring the brain to work yesterday....

It's concussion season. My kid included! Goooooo HS football!

I have a teenager who had a concussion and for some reason isn't able to pass her release concussion test, so we recieved a dr. order for her to spend her study hall in the nurses office for "cognitive rest". Now I am assuming this would mean resting in a quiet perhaps dark area with no stimulation. I don't know who the blazes thinks the nurses office is the place for this girl to go! I voiced my opinion, but they said there isn't anywhere else for her to go. I have one couch. Today, I had a stomachache lying down, 2 headaches in chairs and kids coming in and out for screenings and this girl is sitting in the middle of it, not getting much "cognitive rest". Now this girl doesn't seem to mind, she did her homework - so why can't she go to study hall!!!!???? I bet your boots its quieter there!

Been there, done that! I had one in here resting last year right in the middle of flu season. Kids with 102 temps coughing in every corner but nobody listened to my argument about it not being the proper environment.

"I had a nosebleed in class, my teacher wants to know what you are going to do about it?" Not one drop of blood anywhere on this kid.

I think I will find Michael J. Fox and have him lead me to an old Delorean and maybe the two of us can go back in time and stop that pesky nosebleed. Hopefully, there will be a lightening storm this afternoon so we can make this happen.............

Hahaha!! Let me know if you do! Everyone here in Chicagoland is hyped about the Cubs doing well (I don't know much about it, I'm not a sports kinda girl) and BTTF part 2 predicted that the Cubs would win the World Series in 2015!

Ok, so today I had a student come up,

me: what brings you up today?

student: um, well, turns to his buddy and says "you can go now"

me: OK, so what's up?

student: well, my poor looks like it has popcorn in it, except I didn't eat popcorn

me: umm, ok, how long has thing been going on?

student: a while now

me: Does your Mom know?

student: yes, she said to call her if it happened again, I think.

me: hmm, not a problem that started here. I think you maybe need to take some medicine to help you go a little easier.

student: yes, but...

me: Mom will take care of it tonight, I think. It's not something to be taken care of here. You can go back to class.

Did I mention student is a known frequent flyer, and has a substitute today?

Oh, I had a student come down with one of those plastic rings stuck on her finger. Apparently Mom couldn't get it off, and neither could the teacher.

I put soap on it and it slid right off.......a miracle!

Today was a kinda poopy day!
