Random Thoughts about School Nursing not juicy enough for their own topic start here!
My mantra lately: "Wash your HANDS, go back to CLASS and cover your COUGH!"
Why do parents think that saying "I always submit my forms late" is an excuse? I feel like responding that two wrongs (or more by the sound of it) don't make a right.
In a similar vein, why do school staff believe that the deadlines don't apply to them?
Why do parents who work in healthcare seem to have more difficulty understanding the concept of a deadline?
We just had the celebration for our 8th graders - kinda a graduation from 8th to 9th grade since my school is 5-12. I could not go to the ceremony, but one teacher asked all of the teachers and staff to write a piece of advice for the students on a piece of paper and she took our picture with it. The pictures were then part of a slideshow at the celebration.
My advice? "Go BACK to class!"
Apparently I was the hit of the celebration without even being there .
One of my schools gave me a little box with words of advice from the teachers on cute little cards. The best:
write a book on how to give "the talk"
volunteer at the senior center to teach them about STDs
never be a nit picker again
do something fun on Sunday nights--they're no longer "school nights"
and my favorite: speak your mind--you've earned it!
The Principal took about 5 runs down himself, to much chanting. Oh, I wish I could send you guys pics!
That would be awesome to see though even if it destroyed your anonymity.
Edited this looks like a principal racing a student:
