Random Thoughts about School Nursing not juicy enough for their own topic start here!

My mantra lately: "Wash your HANDS, go back to CLASS and cover your COUGH!"

Tons of nosebleeds. I cannot wait until we can turn off the heat.

YES. And nausea. The third floor of my building gets so hot I get kids all tell telling me they feel nauseated. And since my office is also 85+ degrees when the heat is cranked up, it doesn't help.

Spring, please get here.

SOOOOO many nosebleeds!!

Just had a student who came in because he was tired after recess after "spending all my energy playing."

Does your teacher know you're here for this?

"Yes, I told her I felt really tired and she said, 'Okay, go see the nurse.'"

Okay, well if you made it through recess, you'll make it through the day. Grab some water on your way back!

REALLY?! :banghead:

You all are nicer people than me.

The maintenance guy asks for a bandaid and shows me a beautiful gash in his hand. He was shoveling the crazy snow without gloves. I gave him a bandaid and alcohol pad (I'm not supposed to assess our treat staff) and he starts screaming about the burn of the alcohol.

What?

Then we had a kid come in with less from a mechanical pencil in the sole of her foot. When I asked her where her socks were, she seemed surprise. After all she's wearing Uggs...

FIST FIGHT!!!

Loose tooth, fat lip, blood, story keeps changing, can't get hold of Mom. What fun!

baby tooth or big person tooth?

baby tooth or big person tooth?

Big tooth. But barely. Now in AP's office.

oh boy, stuff just got real...

Kid "sprained" his wrist over the weekend, mom very kindly has been wrapping it each morning for him though both she and I know he's really fine. Came in yesterday and today asking for mom to leave work and bring him OTC pain relief, which she has done. Today she arrives while they're outside, so I go to fetch him . . . just in time to see him make a great catch playing FOOTBALL!!

Kiddo, you're busted (but your arm still isn't).
