Random Thoughts: School Nurses

Published

Random Thoughts about School Nursing not juicy enough for their own topic start here!

My mantra lately: "Wash your HANDS, go back to CLASS and cover your COUGH!"

To those of you on Spring (Easter for me, Passover?) break now, ENJOY your time off! I'm back on 4/13!

How about a voice booming down the hall "Nuuurse, we have a puker!!!" (Walking in hall with a trash can.)

Am I supposed to run out of my office in panic to greet them?

Nurse come quick, someone is puking - Me: They will get here eventually.

My bathroom is for sick kids only, I always say - someone just threw up in there - be my guest.

A tick a tick, someone got a tick off that kid....every adult in the building is in a panic!!! It was on the kid's shirt sleeve, no panic needed. Less than an hour til dismissal and off for a nice long weekend.

I'm in a private Christian school so I decided to take a bathroom break while most of the kids were in Chapel Wednesday morning. That's when I almost always get 30 or so minutes of complete peace and quiet.

So, I barely get my scrubs down and I hear a teacher open the bathroom door and yell, "You can run but you can't hiiiiide!"

Just watch me, I thought.

Oh for the love of...what did she want? She followed you in to the bathroom?!

A 1st grader in chapel just didn't "seem himself" that morning. That would definitely call for immediate, off the toilet stat, RN assessment...don't ya think?

Bwahahahhahahaa!!!!!

As soon as I heard her I would have let out a huge fart. But that's just me.

Bathroom stalkers!! As soon as I sit to pee I inevitably hear outside the door: "where is she???? She's not HERE!!!!" Or knock-knock "are you in there?"

I tell the staff that are too lazy to walk down the hall to use the faculty bathroom "are you SURE you want to go in there?" Then without looking up "Lots of (pick one) vomiting, diarrhea, pink eye or a strange looking rash today". This usually fixes the problem.

I'm OFF this week and I'm HERE.

With yawl I mean, not at school.
