Well, ours started today. Very nice cooler that holds a 6-pack that has a netted beach bag on top. Hospital colors and logo, of course. Inside was a beach ball, a bottle huggie and a frisbee..all with hospital logo..lol. I'm impressed, though. This is the biggie, I'm sure..but just the beginning.
Anyone else wish to share their gifts????
Today is the end of "Nurses Week"! We got some cookies. There were CE Unit offered, but as usual those who work 11p-7a were SOL. I understand our nurse manager had some lunch bags she was giving out...but ya know 11-7 doesn't count at our hospital. A great group of Doctors remembered us and that meant more then the durn cookies!
Happy Nurse's Week!
Originally posted by allgirlsmomMy hosital does NOTHING for Nurses week, instead they have a "Hospital" week for everyone. That's how important the nurses are to them.
You know, this would not bother me at all, except the hospital celebrates:
Doctor's Day
Housekeeping Day
Respiratory Therapist Week
Rehab Week
Lab Week
Secretaries' Week
and God know's what else week.
Since Nurses' Week falls the week before Hospital Week, it get completely ignored, except by our wonderful unit secretaries, who went together and served lunch Wednesday, providing enough food for night shift too (sandwich trays, chips, cokes, and lemon meringue pies). This came out of their own pocket, as it always does.
The administration-sanctioned celebration occurs next week. I can hardly wait.
Happy Nurses' Week anyway!!
Well, my agency gave us a copy of Flo's "Notes in Nursing", plus some pens, Post-It notepads and luggage tags (all with the company logo, of course ). One hospital where I worked had a nice spread of food, with the administrators there to greet us and thank us. At the other hospital I was at this week, a "popcorn cart" came around (at 5 in the morning!). I'm not sure of the full extent of activities at either hospital. I agree with the writer who said: "However, the best gift from here is that I am treated like a professional, I have the oppurtunity for more education, and my manager treats me with respect every day of the year, not just one week out of the year. I think that is what we all want, and deserve, for Nurses Week."
Amen!
Happy Nurses Week to everyone! :)

There was a breakfast one morning on Nurses Week, I hadn't worked the night before, so I didn't go. This week there was an event everyday for hospital week, I'm sorry, I don't get up at noon to go eat when I work nights. Absolutely nothing was scheduled for nights. The unit did get flowers from the Medical staff..........Even the formula reps forgot us...............
Well, I have to say my employer goes all out for their nurses once/year at our yearly meeting which is usually around the time of Nurse Appreciation Week.
Last year we were taken by limosine to a broadway show, with champagne on the way; this year we were taken to a day spa after hours and drew for either a pedicure or a massage; I got the massage! Plus, we had a wine/daquiri bar and a chef who cooked us our own choice of 3 entrees.
I am lucky!

I recieved a small backpack with the company logo on it, a cork coaster with the company logo, and a calculator, also with the company logo and a pen, with(guess what) on it. All things considered, it's pretty good, especially for an agency. A hospital I worked for one time gave us an itty-bitty 2"x3" cloth zipper bag with 2 bandaids in it. Most of us sent it back to them, and told them if this was the best they could do, we perferred to be ignored. Not very gracious, but it made us feel better. This was after they had bought the CEO furniture for his office to the tune of $100,000+. He didn't like the furniture he had gotten the previous year.......
