Drs. handwriting - Can you read it well?
I have had times that "no one" can read the hand writing, not even the people in the pharmacy. I have even had to hold the order upto the ceiling lights and read it backwards. As a rule, when I call for clarification, they are nice, but did have to call a doc who was very rude. At that point, I wrote an incident report and made a copy of the order and guess what............when it was given to the doc, he couldn't read it either. will be glad when we get computerized orders

documenting short staffing question
we were always told that any incident reports go to the director of the floor. My question is.....what happens when the director doesn't turn in the incident report. We also work under terrible conditions....short staffing.......and the director really doesn't give a flip

Oncology RN with cancer
I am a nurse and had lung CA 3 years ago. My situation was a little different because a doctor had known and never told me. I didn't find out till a year and half later. I was pretty devistated. No signs or symptoms. I had surgery, but no chemo or radiation. I did see an oncologist, but was told chemo wasn't necessary. How did it affect me??? After the initial shock and the surgery, I went back to work 6 months later. I find work is the best thing for me as I can go to work and help others....I work on oncology floor plus other specialities, and if I can make just a little difference in someone's life, I'm thrilled. I also have the opinion that there are other people worse off than me. I love my job and love what I do. Working seems to keep your mind off the cancer, as you really don't have time to think about yourself. I was just diagnosed with MS. My plate is so full, its running off the sides and I'm stepping in it, but I still go to work every day and try to make a difference in someone else's life. Hang in there, it WILL get better

clinic nurses-late patients?? What to do?
The other side to this is what if the doctor is running behind????? I have been seeing a neurologist for the past 3 1/2 years and its nothing for him to be 3 hrs behind, even if you have a 10am appt. I have always told the office people that if he is late, please call me as it takes me 45 minutes to get to his office, but that doesn't always happen. I had an appointment 3 days ago and I called and he was behind, so they told me to come in at noon. I called again before I was going to leave and he still wasn't there. I then told them to call me and give me enough time to get there (45 minutes). guess what time they called me 2:15. I was really po'd. my whole day was shot

How long does report take?
Good grief.....an hour and a half??? With me, if I had the same patients and there wasn't any drastic changes during the nite, it only takes about 30 minutes. If I am getting report from the day nurse and I already know the patients, I tell them to give the the "high lites" because I already have the basics
