question about students dressed in medical uniform in my class

Published

Hi, I'm just taking science prerequisites (anatomy, physio, microbio) right now but I noticed that there are quite a few students in my prereq classes that wear medical style uniforms to class. Are they working in the medical field already at like a lower entry level? Like for example I see some students have those shirts with the cute teddy bear decorations (like the kind I see medical assistants at the physicians office wear), and I also see some wear blue medical uniform (blue shirt and blue pants.) My question is are these students already working as LVN, CNA or something?

Yeah, I think it probably is that they work somewhere and come to class before or after work. They could be an LVN or a CNA-- or even something else altogether. Everybody seems to be wearing scrubs these days.

Just ask them. :)

There were a couple of people in my A&P class last night that were wearing scrubs. I asked and one was a pharmacy tech who worked for a research company, another was an LVN trying to bridge to her RN.

We had several students who were LVN-RN ... they would go off to work right after class, so dressed in scrubs.

I had about 4 people dress in scrubs. I didn't ask, but they got my attention.

I wear scrubs at work and don't like wearing them to school, but I'm off work at 5:00p.m. and I got my physiology class starting at 5:20 p.m.

Should I take extra clothes to change? I have a 20 minute-drive from work to school. I don't know if I got time.

the secretary at my doc's office wears scrubs....and she's not really in the medical field....she just answers the phone....

here's a suggestion....why don't u ask them? you'll get a definite answer instead of us speculating

I was a dialysis tech whp often wore scrubs 2 class

I've also seen people wear scrub tops with jeans. Take care of your curiosity by asking them. I doubt they will tell you it is a big secret!

A lot of people wear scrubs to my anatomy classes. I know a few are LPNs in my class who have to retake the anatomy classes because it has been over 5 years since they got their license. (to be accepted to the RN program I am in the anatomy classes have to have been recent)

I am in a RN nursing program, and there are a few that are CNAs, LPNs, and surgical techs who all have to wear scrubs to class because they have work after/before class.

I don't think anyone would look down on you or anything if you wore them. Just don't flash them off...there are a few people who like to do that to let everyone know they have some background in a hospital/clinic...

Personally, as a new nursing student, I enjoy seeing people in their scrubs in class. This will sound so so corny, but it actually inspires me a little. It's hard to explain, but I think I like seeing them in scrubs (other than NS uniform) because I know i REALLY REALLY want to be there one day. It keeps me focused.

In our school dress code is scrubs whether you are in the dental assisting program, medical billing and coding, medical assisting, or nursing program you HAVE to wear scrubs every single day even when you are in a non-medical class. No street clothes, no casual clothes. Scrubs scrubs scrubs....so we get vouchers for two scrubs tops and two scrubs bottoms for free then we have to buy the rest. We know the difference in who is who by color. Dark blue scrub bottoms are nurses, maroon scrub bottoms are medical assistant, green ish scrub bottoms are dental assistants and light blue scrub bottoms are medical billing and coding. I don't know the other colors if there are any other colors in the school.

They have a very strict dress code policy at our school.

But in the case of your school you can just ask the scrub wearers what they do. They might be happy to tell you.

I'm taking extra clothes to change. I feel really out of place wearing them in class. Now, my hair is a problem when I put it down from the pony tail. It has a strong mark like a crown.
