Good grief. America's Frontline Doctors, a group of quacks who claim to know more than actual experts are pushing the use of ineffective parasite med to prevent and or treat COVID.

On a personal note, my hubby works for a farm store and has overheard customers explaining to each other how to dose animal wormer for people. This is in a community that is anti-mask, anti-vaccine, let's just all get infected. Up until, you know, they need hospitalization .

Who was talking talking about Merck making money? I must have missed that. I do recall a claim made that Merck has no incentive to market ivermectin because it’s off patent.

I did post that Merck discourages it’s use.

There are 18 pages it was last week. I remember someone saying Merck was prob making money off this, but I do recall your statement as well.  I remember someone saying they were surprised Merck hasn't done a commercial for the drug but can't remember the other one. This seems to be a hot topic. :)

Obviously the person who was surprised about the lack of a Merck commercial was another late comer and too lazy to read the thread but just HAD to post something:)

It is one of those things that is repeatedly mentioned but those hesitant about vaccination or trying to justify remaining unvaccinated. It's a hot topic among those people.

No it's a hot topic amoung both groups. This thread is proof of that from both sides.

Fair enough.

It’s a hot topic on one side as an option for covid treatment and a topic on the other side as WOW!!?!

Are we expected to open minded enough to condone using veterinary deworming meds based upon social media dosing guidelines?

For as much as ivermectin has not, based on a few recent studies in India and elsewhere, been shown to impact Covid progression, I DO wish people would stop calling it a horse dewormer.  It's used on humans as well and is not just a vet med.  Referring to it as such causes doubt and distrust in science when we don't acknowledge reality.  Are people using the veterinary version?-yep...and that's a problem for sure...but we wouldn't call Augmentin a vet antibiotic if used.  It's just makes the rhetoric people are listening to disingenuous...which does zero to help change people's minds.

But people ARE using the veterinary HORSE DEWORMER....so there isn't enough for the animals.  America;  50 % vaccinated and 10% de-wormed.

I commented elsewhere that years ago, I was treated with ivermectin for nasty scabies that was wild in my facility. The whole nsg staff took our little white pill in the silver foil blister. IT IS OK for approved human use.

I think we all agree that Ivermectin is approved for humans.  But is the veterinary preparation approved for human use?

The problem is not with the drug...the problem is the misuse of the drug. The problem is not that people are taking ivermectin...the problem is that people are self medicating using the retail accessible veterinary preparations. There's nothing disingenuous in that discussion.

What is actually disingenuous is to lead people to believe that they can prevent or treat covid infection by ingesting ivermectin.
