President Biden thread

Published

Wow.  No one has started such a thread yet?

After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days,  apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.

Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week,  by the end of April.

"President Biden rescinded an order from former President Donald Trump Friday to build a “National Garden of American Heroes” to memorialize hundreds of influential Americans."

Sounds like a monument to big doners.  A lot of American losers will be included among the more honorable.  I don't believe anything that comes out of the Dailywire rag.  It makes no sense that a federal proclamation has anything to do with a private park.  When Trump used the words "freedom" and "heroes", it made me throw up in my mouth.  John Cain was a hero and yet found the time and energy to trash him.  And you know Trump would NEVER allow a monument to John Cain!

The garden never got past the planning stages in the Trump administration and never got congressional funding during the Trump administration.  People during Trump's time in office were not interested.  Biden merely took it off the table thinking there are better ways to spend time and money as it was already going no where.

I bet Trump was planning to start the funding for project that right after he released his taxes and the healthcare plan that he had ready.

The monument was not funded by congress and therefore wasnt going to happen.

This just seems pretty to bother with formally rescinding the order.

I just read about another order rescinded.  The one directing the govt to prosecute those who deface statutes on federal property.   I'd like to know the reason behind that one.

Yeah, what a waste of Biden's time.  I don't think Biden rescinded that Trump eo that extended secret service for his adult children for 6 months.

That's nice of Biden, eh?

I think it's best to get such things off the books.  Trump used executive order when he didn't have congressional support.  The support for the statue vandals while popular with his base didn't have much support either. It targeted "rioters, arsonists and left-wing extremists", I.e. BLM protestors which the right wing despised.

I would imagine current vandalism laws remain in effect and it's not like people can legally destroy property.   A simple internet search confirms this.

At the end of the day, these executive orders are more of a symbolic gesture of the Biden agenda and priorities while they may seem petty there are more making a statement.  Understandably they aren't popular with Republicans.

No it wasn't monuments to the wealthy.

I really don't think his heart was in the right place.  In response to the anti-confederate monument movement he stated as quoted from the article you posted:

“Belief in the greatness and goodness of America has come under attack in recent months and years by a dangerous anti-American extremism that seeks to dismantle our country’s history, institutions, and very identity,”

equating anti-confederacy with Anti-American which makes no sense since America went to war against the confederacy and won.  He was being racist at worst, and petty at best.  Either way I'm glad it went nowhere.

I don't think that we should celebrate a confederacy that lost the war any more than we should celebrate Nazi Germany or Imperialist Japan.  We should celebrate what they are now, our greatest allies, and the greatness that is the southern United States not the enemies we defeated.

That this idea makes me not believe in the greatness and goodness of America is BS.  In contrary it celebrates us.

No John Cain:)  Ridiculous.  If private donors want to put this together - fine.  They can put it next to that religious theme park in Florida depicting people riding dinosaurs.  Such a KimJ Jung-on style idea.  I doubt that Trump would separate with any of his own money to get it built.

Where's John Cain?  William Buckley but no John Cain?  Sounds like something Kim Jung-un would like to execute.  Hey, if private donors want to fund such a place, so be it.  But it belongs next to Dinosaur Adventure Land in Florida, a religious park which depicts people riding on dinosaurs as if that were an authentic piece of history.

I agree, and wasn't suggesting that I either agreed with, or supported his idea.

How many times must he be wrong before you start questioning his decisions?

Someone who barely took any briefings, watched fox for hours, didn't read, surrounded himself with idiots and sycophants and continuously got things wrong and there are questions about his decisions?

Your new car won't start, so you call a mobile mechanic who turns up in a wreck of a vehicle that smokes and sounds like it's falling apart. Do you allow him to touch your car?

. . . I guess he could've declared the non-existence of a Sculpture Garden of American Heroes a national crisis, and again siphoned money allocated for soldiers stationed in Afghanistan and other dangerous places, and then not built a sculpture garden or a wall at the southern border.

There are still people who believe Trump was capable of any action that wasn't primarily intended to advance his political objectives and feed his monstrous narcissism.
