Wow. No one has started such a thread yet?
After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days, apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.
Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week, by the end of April.

Thank you, Chare. I learned something today! My only real disagreement with the writer is attributing ALL the blame on Biden since the border has been a problem for decades. IMHO, if we decide borders are something valuable to society, then we should defend them. But what I can't decide is at what cost. If we put all the illegals in jail for re-offending and coming back in the 2nd time, it will be very expensive. And I want to see anyone who sneaks in with a felony record apprehended and jailed. But why should WE have to pay for that? Yet, the lack of humanity demonstrated by the Trump administration was demoralizing for America. And why should people who can merely walk across a border be given preference over people who are being hacked to death or being bombed? Since we created the problem ourselves, are we capable of learning from our mistakes? I know many people are furious at the idea that illegals should get their Covid vaccinations here BUT, if we don't innoculate them, we are only shooting ourselves in the foot, so people have to start thinking seriously about what a border defense IS. The only idea I've seen that was helpful was the scientist that wanted to put a giant solar farm instillation that would serve as both a source of jobs for Mexicans and Americans and simultaneously provide a physical barrier. But, of course, farmers who live on the borders would have to look at these things. Someone or some group will always be offended. But for Republicans to rail about now allowing the Dreamers to stay here - well, that puts us back to shooting ourselves in the foot because it distracts from the difficult decisions ahead. I would appreciate your ideas.

You're welcome.
I haven't had a chance to read the article yet, but will. However, did want to comment on this. In general, I don't think it fair, or appropriate, to say that any president was either 100% right or wrong on any issue. On immigration, I definitely agree. It was a mess, and had been for years, when Mr. Reagen signed the Immigration Reform and Control Act into law in 1986, and hasn't gotten any better since.
And for those taking a hard line on immigration, they would do well to remember that Mr. Reagen, the patron saint of conservatism, legalized ~3 million immigrants that were here illegally.

I would argue that our immigration policy has gotten demonstrably worse and a notable measure of the current dysfunction is directly attributable to Trump policies and general neglect.
An advantage of retirement is that I can listen to senate hearings while I putter about doing the silly things that old men do. Today I listened to the Senate hearing on minors at the border, the crisis as described by republicans. I would recommend giving it a listen if you have the time.
So being a trivial person, it's been on my mind lately, When Trump goes to prison, won't he have a huge advantage with invisibility?
I mean the jump suits are orange? He could just walk out and does Elizabeth Moss have to go bounty hunter then ?????
These are important questions that need to be addressed before he goes to prison. Who's going to pay for the new colored jumpsuits?
So I was wondering if anyone wants to invest in a new company I'm thinking of starting importing pandas to sell to cyberningas in Arizona for the recount?
I believe I can convince them that our pandas are better than uv light and they could use the poo for fertilization and get the public to pay for pics with the pandas and make extra money.
We could up sell them on cages, special cameras which doesn't exist but are on the Jewish satellites that started the California forest fires AND use the lasers against any lizard people that might be lurking around the arena!
Hell, we could even sell Arizona t-shirts against lizards ?????????

OMG, this appeals to my shallowness. Orange will be the worst color he could wear. He'll have no hair or make-up at his side all day. Such a tragic ending for an abuser of humanity, especially a child abuser. In fact I think it's time for a Netflix special series of what life might be like for him in prison. The humorous part would be famility visitation and Ivanka struggling to dress for adversity.

Honestly, we'll find some way to be easy on him...wealthy and powerful people so rarely face life changing justice.

Did you have a thought about this?

The monument was not funded by congress and therefore wasnt going to happen.
This just seems pretty to bother with formally rescinding the order.
I just read about another order rescinded. The one directing the govt to prosecute those who deface statutes on federal property. I'd like to know the reason behind that one.

Link still takes me to a paywall. Maybe after reading through the WaPo and NYT today I'll try to find that opinion. Maybe.
