President Biden thread

Published

Wow.  No one has started such a thread yet?

After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days,  apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.

Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week,  by the end of April.

Florida is also the home of the some of the worst voter restriction laws and incredible biases re ethnic groups. Most importantly it houses Trump who I am sure only moved there because Florida is more conducive to his criminality.

So it is unlikely I would trust any factual information coming out of Florida. I would be willing to bet a considerable sum that everything is being tampered with re information coming out of Florida.

That's kind of like saying "the election was stolen from Trump, I can't prove it but I have a feeling and Trump says so".  Show me the facts please, and if there are accusations of tampering then prove it.

No one has questioned the unemployment rate in Florida and in fact the first reported rate was too high and was revised downward later.  If they wanted to tamper with it why wouldn't they report the lower number in the first place, or just make something up.

It's been reported by the tourism industry that Summer bookings are going gangbusters and poised to make a comeback.  I do hope that isn't them tampering with data.

Florida is Republican run and certainly not without it's problems but just because I don't always like what I hear doesn't mean the information is tampered with.  That's a Trump tactic to claim "fake news" and I don't go there.

I do know the controversy from the whistle blower about sugaring up the covid data, but even so we had some of the worst numbers during the Summer surge.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me!

I don't trust anything republicans say!

Trump is trying to emulate Caesar and turn our Republic into a dictatorship. He's not in Gaul and there's no Rubicon to cross, only a Cuban named Rubio ??. Actually bad comparison. Caesar was a great man and he actually did good dissolving that corrupt Republic. But I still don't want a dictatorship. I like democracy,

The fact is that they have lied so much about everything, why should I believe anything they say?

Don't you think that tells you through his speech just how superficial he is? It would relate to cadence.

Being educated doesn't absolve you of bad character traits. I actually think that speech more than any form of communication determines character. It is the forerunner to character.

I have always found that people who take their time speaking because they are considering their words and it's import, actually are the most trustworthy individuals. It demonstrates how they assemble ideas and how they feel that it's best communicated. Considered people rarely hurry anything because they are worried about mistakes and implications.

His speech and cadence don't suggest lack of intelligence or smarts.  I think it suggests dishonesty and opportunism.  It seems to me that I should pay close attention to what he says and what he's doing while I watch his lips move.

Fair enough.  I don't trust anything Trump says and lots of Republicans support what he says, or sweeps his lies under the rug, so their integrity is questionable.

But even DeSantis doesn't take a statistic he doesn't like and say it's made up to make him look bad, or makes up his own statistics to make himself look better.  He deals with what is in front of him albeit not always in a good way such as opening up Disney the day after it was reported a new record for covid was set in Florida.  He never denied that number or claim it was made up (California now lays claim to the highest number of covid in one day).

Here’s a fact. If you start telling lies, you have to continue telling lies to support the previous lies or the previous lies becomes evident as to being lies. This now reflects on your character and whatever you say in the future.

He's lying! He's always lying! To support all of the previous lies he's told. Even in a party that ignores liars, rapists, insurrectionists, racism, corruption and criminals etc De Santis is considered a leader. The mafia doesn't choose saints to lead them!

Florida...ugh.  They paved paradise and put in a parking lot.  I will give them credit, though, for improving their educational system, so, when the older people die the next group coming up with be a smidgen better educated and more progressive in thought and leadership instead of aiming for the 1950's.

Don't it always seem to go, you don't know what you miss until it's gone.

Next hurricane?

It's only a matter of time when you are being completely irresponsible for a disaster to strike.

I'm just waiting to see if Matt Gaetz is also going to entrap de Santis and which other politicians. He wasn't doing that stuff in a vacuum!

You don't have to convince me that Trump lies.  I've been here and I'm not disillusioned to that fact.

While DeSantis is a Trump supporter and this speaks volumes about his character, he does not lie on a regular basis.  When he doesn't want to answer questions he disappears and doesn't hold press conferences (this was evident during the Summer covid surge where he was criticized for his absence), or he takes no questions after an unpopular announcement, or he leaves the room when he's done answering questions.

Most recent polls has DeSantis winning re-election over several prominent Democrats, so the "mafia" apparently is alive and well here in Florida and Democrats just can't seem to get their act together.   As the economy gets stronger this approval rating will more than likely be maintained.

I don't agree.

I do, however, believe that there are things to be learned from the way elected officials use speech and language. For instance, Senator John Kennedy uses an exaggerated accent to try to give a folksy impression...really he's an ivy league educated opportunist who changes from liberal to conservative to Trumper as the objectives require.

Reminds me of the times Obama tried to sound more black.

I hardly doubt DeSantis was involved in his sex life.   Just a hunch.

Although they were allies.

Why do you think that Obama sounded more black to you sometimes?
