President Biden thread

Published

Wow.  No one has started such a thread yet?

After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days,  apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.

Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week,  by the end of April.

Populism  in this case IS fascism.  It's not the fantasy of Mr. Smith going to Washington kind of populism.

I guess.

I think that Americans throw around terms like communism or socialism without knowing what they are actually saying.  Trump's movement might have been populist in 2016  but by the time he was trying to steal an election and lying about the results, his politics had fallen smack dab into the realm of fascism.

I don't think of populism as a positive thing in this time of history.  People aren't well educated anymore.  The new populism is fascism.

He wasn't my choice to be the candidate, but weighing the good with the bad, I'm very satisfied thus far.

A lot of people are.  Remember I live inTrump land USA and people are saying he's doing what needs to be done and seem quite pleased.  It was my best friend's representative on the beaches that proposed putting him on Mount Rushmore.

Mt Rushmore is obviously a ridiculous idea.

Replacing GW with Trump on the dollar bill is much more practical.

Why would we put Trump on the that bill instead of George Washington?

I'm in Florida right now and I don't believe that the Trumpers are aware of what's going on.  But I'm staying in a heavily Mexican neighborhood and there are a few protestors around asking not to separate families.  Most of the people I talk to are unaware of the news and can't answer any questions you ask because they don't bother reading the news.  They are more like the people interviewed on Jimmy Kimmel recently who didn't realize MLK was dead and expressed disappointment that he didn't come to the inauguration.  It's too hot here.

"President Joe Biden will leave office with ratings far more negative than when he started, and a retrospective approval rating lower than any he received during the term.

....

Mr. Biden's retrospective approval rating today is lower than Trump's was when he was leaving office in 2021. It is far lower than other recent Democratic presidents, each of whom left after two terms."

Interesting that of the last 8 presidents the three lowest were Biden, Trump and Bush with a dismal 22%.

With things that mattered to people inflation, the border and running for a 2nd term causing a loss to Trump, it's not surprising he gets low approval ratings.  He gets them from me.

I hope this is my last post about Biden.

Since we don't know what Trump's exit polls will be when it leaves, your statement is meaningless.  Biden left after a world wide pandemic and he stayed around too long.  Trump should have never happened at all.  Now we don't even know who would succeed him if a third shooter was successful.

None of that was my statement.  It was CBS News reporting on their poll.

The public tired of the Trump is threat to democracy,  racist, misogynist, etc rhetoric and that is partly resulted in his election.  The Democrats and Trump-haters seemingly haven't learned their lesson.  The rhetoric continues, and his poll numbers improve.

That's what I take from this poll.  But, perhaps it's meaningless.

VP Vance would succeed Trump if he was unable to finish his term.  That is per the Constitution.

@mtmkjr, remember my point about it's not just conservatives who don't have a good understanding of how our government and constitution work?

So you only posted a meaningless poll?  There's so many of them.  We have no idea what his poll numbers will look like a month from now.  Haven't you read the latest?  Trump just said that he would NOT automatically allow Vance to replace him.  He had to wait to see.

I told you what I thought there was to get from this poll at this point in time.  Imo, not meaningless.

Trump said he isn't ready to endorse him in 2028.  He said nothing about Vance not replacing him if in your words " a third shooter was successful."

How would he have any say in that situation,  anyway?

@mtmkjr see what I mean?
