Wow. No one has started such a thread yet?
After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days, apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.
Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week, by the end of April.
Beerman said:"The Washington Post Editorial Board declared this week that Vice President Kamala Harris' coverup of President Biden's mental decline is one of the reasons her party suffered major defeats on Election Day.
In an editorial published on Friday, the board argued that Harris and the White House's constant denial of Biden's mental acuity issues, destroyed the party's "believability" and Americans voted accordingly."
From the beginning I thought Biden was too old. I thought he shouldn't have run, even in 2020. I thought it was selfish of him to cling to the presidency and not pass the torch to the next generation. I became more and more exasperated as the time ticked away and he didn't do that.
However, the alternative was so offensive to me that I was willing to go along because I believed Biden would make a better president as an old and feeble man than a more vigorous Trump would. I voted for Kamala as a place holder to prevent Trump returning to office. Sorry it didn't work out.
People will get what they asked for I guess. Let's see how it goes for those who thought he was all talk, but wouldn't actually do what he said he would. Hmmm.

It seems like just another appointment to cause chaos. Hello measles, my old friend. I shudder to think about what happens if bird flu gets out of hand.
As for healthy food, of course, I'm all for it. But with the influence of industrial agriculture, it won't get very far.
Besides, Musk and Ramaswamy are going to fire 75% of the workforce, and the whole government is going to screech to a halt. Good times.

Despite his feelings on vaccines, he says he isn't wanting him to go away. He's against mandates. I am as well, but think that should be left up to the states.
How he goes about that, if he takes that on, is what concerns me. He shouldn't be spouting off nonsense about vaccines.
On most other things, he seems pretty knowledgeable. Including fluoride in drinking water.
He certainly has the appearance of someone who has lived a healthy lifestyle.

Chaos is a but strong. But I'm not against a shake up in how the government is run.
75% seems high. I imagine that's a number you just pulled out of the air. No doubt though there is plenty of room to cut down the size of our federal government.
I guess that's the big difference between liberals and conservatives. Liberals think our government needs to solve all our problems and run our lives for us to survive . That's why so many of them freak out about Trump being elected.
"Hello Measles" is pretty dramatic, eh? Will pediatricians stop advising their patients' families about getting vaccinated?

It is dramatic, but will patient's families trust their physicians. This will remain to be seen but this is apparently a concern of physicians. Even prior to him being appointed vaccination rates have dropped worldwide. On the day of his appointment a report came out sounding the alarm about measles. Measles has already made a comeback and he might make it worse. Not a huge problem, but a concern since vaccination rates might fall below herd immunity.

Speaking of being dramatic. Many liberals want to help those in need.

The fiscal conservative-centrist in me agrees with this. I think that Musk and Ramaswamy downsizing big government is a good idea. I'm going to keep an open mind about it, but if they do it at the same time taxes are cut, then I can't be supportive of that. We need to keep revenue up and cut out the fat and waste.
It will be interesting if they slash some pet projects of republicans because it's not all liberals that expect the government to help them out. Much government spending is in red states, some red states take more than they give. Trump won this county during a time his voters who chose not to have insurance are begging FEMA for handouts after our two hurricanes. In the meantime I don't qualify for anything since I have insurance.
It's going to hurt. Economies that have been through austerity have shrunk. Just ask Greece but they were in a debt crises and we don't seem to be, and years later after a shrinking economy, they seem to be on the rebound post-covid. Apples and oranges. But you get my point.

Ramaswamy came up with 75% . He said something to the effect that you fire everyone whose social security # ends in an odd #. Then fire everyone whose social security # starts with an odd number. Musk slashed the number of employees at Twitter and lost millions.
If there is no government mandate and insurance won't pay for vaccinations. And they aren't cheap. You need 90-95% vaccination rates for herd immunity. That is hard to maintain when people have insurance. Measles kills, causes brain damage and deafness.

I guess that the folks that support him never knew that we've had an obesity crisis for decades and that we known before the existence of Gloria Swanson that healthy diets were safer than dyed cupcakes:) No one ever knew of this before?
NutmeggeRN said:So how are all the medical folks feeling about RFK, Jr?...fluoride, vaccines etc....and the push for healthy food by Michelle Obama was vilified? Thoughts?
Off topic in the Biden thread but the medical folks are not happy about his anti-vaccine stance, and his anti-obesity drug stance is drawing some criticism (I'm not a fan myself). He said as recently as 2023 that vaccines cause autism, an idea that has been debunked. He recently went after seed oils saying they are poisonous, and that idea has been debunked. So in my mind he's not a good choice for overseeing a trillion dollar department.
However his anti-processed foods and additives (many of those additives are banned in Europe already) might be a good thing. His statement that ultra-processed food is driving the obesity epidemic does ring true, but he also states they are the cause of things like cancers and mental illness, statements not necessarily backed up by science.
But as we saw with Obama, people don't like being told what they can and can not eat.
But as we see with the election of Trump, in today's day and age honesty, science and truth don't mean much.

I can agree with that. The Democrats made lots of horrible decisions. The biggest one was not getting rid of him sooner BUT Trump would refuse to step down under the same circumstances. He is living proof of his incompetence and wanting the worst for a large swath of the population.
