Wow. No one has started such a thread yet?
After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days, apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.
Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week, by the end of April.
Just for your consideration:
"Here’s the situation. And when it comes to the gas prices, we’re going through an incredible transition that is taking place that, God willing, when it’s over, we’ll be stronger and the world will be stronger and less reliant on fossil fuels when this is over," Biden said, seeming to justify or praise those sky-high prices Americans face at the pump."

"seems to praise high gas prices"....."They’re causing you pain at the pump because it’s all part of their radical agenda"
Just right wing rhetoric. Can't blame them though, it's probably an effective strategy. The oil companies are probably liking it and laughing all the way to the way to the bank and people angry and gas prices and inflation need someone to blame and historically have voted against the party in power.
Personally, I appreciate what Biden is saying. He's never shied away from acknowledging the pain people are going through and really hope it's true that we're going to come out of this stronger and less reliant on fossil fuels. The pain at the pump should be a motivator for doing better. Yes we need fossil fuels in the here and now and Biden shouldn't get in the way of that.
QuoteTurns out, however, that getting U.S. producers to drill for more oil is easier said than done.
Top oil executives warn they won't be able to ramp up U.S. production anytime soon.

QuoteIt goes like this: Biden is asked if the United States would respond militarily if China invaded Taiwan. The president responds, “yes.” The world freaks out, wondering if there has been a major change in policy. The White House says there has been no change and that everyone is freaking out over nothing.

Republicans in Congress proceed with investigation, giving hints how things will go if they when the house in November.
Quote"We are investigating the domestic and international business dealings of President Biden's son, Hunter Biden, and other Biden associates and family members to determine whether these activities compromise U.S. national security and President Biden's ability to lead with impartiality," Comer wrote in the letters to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and 13 banks and financial institutions.

Unrelated, I just read Chelsea Clinton's net worth is 30 million dollars, made mostly from consulting work. It's no secret that the Trump children profited off their father's presidency. I guess it pays to be a President's child.
To be fair
She has earned an undergrad from degree Stanford (CA), Masters Degree from Oxford (England) and Columbia (NY) , PhD Oxford (England) as well as a best selling author and co author of children's books and co authored a scholarly book on global health policy for adults...also married to an investment banker whose name we never hear in the legal circles as having stolen money from charities..or any other illegal activity.
I expect the Obama children will do well also.

She's earned her fortune fair and square and ethically, and obviously is quite intelligent. But would she have got on the best sellers list without her father's name? Probably not. My best friend is a published PhD and is by no means rich.
Lying, or cognitive decline?
"Even the White House said it wasn’t sure whether President Biden lied last week when he told graduates at the U.S. Naval Academy that he turned down an appointment to Annapolis in 1965."

Of course the alternative is to vote for a republican ... that party is struggling to denounce white supremacy and protect the children that they want to force poor women to birth, when they aren't busy legalizing the tools used by fascists to undermine elections... that seems an easy choice.

The Biden White House surely is a mess with a string of bad news after bad news. Perfect time for the Republicans to take advantage and it probably is going to work in their favor.
Really, all Republicans have to do is still back and watch the Democrats implode over the inflation.
But there is that element that is very off putting that is waging culture wars against "woke" people, libraries, abortion, and the Trump faction saying he won the election, etc. etc. They are even battling with each other in elections with Trump-endorse candidates battling it out with mainstream Republicans.
Really the whole process is f-bombed up.

Yes! Just what WOULD a Republican alternative look like? Would we wake up every day thinking "Wow, these guys are making our country a better place to live." All we needed was more automatic weapons, more unwanted children. more infrastructure decay and more outraged parents taking Huck Finn off the shelves. Who knew it was all so simple?

No. The "alternative" is to independently review the candidates, and suppoort the one that best aligns with your values, beliefs, and ideology; regardless of which party they represent.
But, that's too much work for many, on both sides, and they will continue to vote based on party alone.

I actually agree with you, Beerman. I was very unhappy when I saw members of Congress refusing to give a little to get the infrastructure bill passed. Passing laws is about compromise, not drawing a line in the sand.
