President Biden thread

Published

Wow.  No one has started such a thread yet?

After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days,  apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.

Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week,  by the end of April.

My Swedish far far, quotes this often. You wear rose colored glasses, you see rose colors in everything!

Yeah and when you swim through a swamp of ?you risk becoming full of it.

Not at all.  You made the claim ...

I could easily pick out at least forty percent of the current GOP who are habitual criminals ...

All I'm asking is for you to do so.  Based on current Republican representation in the U.S. House and Senate, this would be 105.

As you've quoted me when you posted this, I presume it is directed to me, I'll ask you, once again, to please explain how you have come to this conclusion.

It did happen under Trump, you might research the aspects of the Afghan withdrawal that were already complete before Biden took office.

You mean this?

"Talks continued in Doha, and in February 2020, Trump announced that there was a deal. The basic contours: The United States was to get out of Afghanistan in 14 months and, in exchange, the Taliban agreed not to let Afghanistan become a haven for terrorists and to stop attacking U.S. service members.

The deal laid out an explicit timetable for the United States and NATO to pull out their forces: In the first 100 days or so, they would reduce troops from 14,000 to 8,600 and leave five military bases. Over the next nine months, they would vacate all the rest. “The United States, its allies, and the Coalition will complete withdrawal of all remaining forces from Afghanistan within the remaining nine and a half (9.5) months,” the deal reads. “The United States, its allies, and the Coalition will withdraw all their forces from remaining bases.”"

He added as an aside: “If bad things happen, we’ll go back with a force like no one’s ever seen.”

Looks like Biden didn't follow Trumps plan very well. Even after giving himself more time.

Do you mean buddy up with the Taliban, and leave "brown" women and children at the hands of child raping gay bashing maniacs?

Where's the part in Trump's great plan where he provided for the safety of "' brown women' and children at the hands of child raping gay bashing maniacs"?

In fact, there was no plan.  Trump's team halted all state department processing of special VISAs for those women and children and intended to simply leave them all in Afghanistan...after he negotiated with the Taliban and invited the Taliban to camp David.

Did you miss that part?

When he did, "If bad things happen, we’ll go back with a force like no one’s ever seen.”.

So Trump was threatening more war rather than attempt to evacuate the vulnerable?

"The latest Politico/Morning Consult survey found 61 percent of independents—a key demographic for Biden—think his administration's policies are somewhat or very responsible for rising prices across the country.

Overall, 62 percent of American voters said the president's policies are responsible for the issue—including 41 percent of Democrats and 85 percent of Republicans surveyed by the news outlet."

We have suffered through Trump's pandemic for a year and a half now with consequences no one saw coming - like the hundreds of ships lined up at the ports.  Inflation is a logical consequences of the breaks in the supply chain.  I don't know if Jesus himself could have prevented the inflation we are having now.  The only way to break the cycle is for everyone to get vaccinated and getting back to business as usual,  but the non-vaxxers are holding the country hostage and experiencing an unpredicable end to supply chain problems and the subsequent inflation.

Housing prices are up in part because of border policies restricting workers who would normally be doing construction. Gas prices are up related to Hurricane Ida and OPEC decisions. And yes, supply chains are just plain messed up at every step. It looks an opportunity for holidays to less commercial, in my opinion. Not everyone needs a new smart phone or flat screen, or the lastest molded plastic toy.

No, it was Mr. Trumps pandemic for ~1 year.  It has been Mr. Biden's pandemic for 9 months now.
